n00b ride NoVA

I've noticed a few new members from the NoVA D.C. Metro area and had the idea for a newbie ride. A good way to meet some other members and for those of us with who have yet to do a group ride. I'd like to see who is interested and where we would do the ride. Most likely a Sunday morning or afternoon. Maybe the W&OD trail?

Several of the area bike shops have no-drop group rides. Green Lizard in Herndon has a Wed night ride. I think Spokes in Ashburn has a no-drop women's ride on Saturday. Trails End (P'ville) and Bike Lane (Reston Town Center) have weekend shop rides. Probably some in Falls Church and Arlington. Also check Potomac Pedalers Touring Club's site for low-key rides (mostly weekends, some weekday closer to DC) and the Washington Area Bike Forums (aka BikeAlrkington).

Also check out Meetup.com for cycling groups in the area. There are several and some have beginner type rides.

I'm in for something. Also, Revolution Cycles in Arlington (Clarendon) does a no-drop on Sunday mornings with a link up of 8:30.

Both Potomac Pedalers and the Oxon Hill club have all levels of ride.
PPTC has a regular D/C level ride out of Shirlington on Sunday mornings
