Yesterday I took the day off work to go to a members-only preview of the new stingray exhibit at the Shedd Aquarium. I got to pet stingrays! It was so cool.

That's my hand petting stingrays!!! by miss_kaz, on Flickr

Then I went to my favorite beer bar and got drunk for a friend's birthday and now I'm hungover. Good day.

So in the Mekong River there are rays that get to be 5 meters long with stingers that are like a foot or two long. Pretty scary. but awesome as well.

But today I bought a Ciocc road bike with Columbus SL tubing and a mix of Campy Record and Dura Ace parts. All for $75. So stoked man

First real trail run of the year. Snow is melting slow and most everything is either still covered or too covered for any kind of real running.

Got my new wheelset ordered today, H+Son Archetype with All-City Track hubs, gonna do radial front/3x rear. Can't wait to get rid of my B43's.

Then I took the long way home from the bike shop ( https://app.strava.com/activities/53680454 ) was gonna go for a century but allergies started kicking my ass and my eyes got so swollen I could barely see.

Same here. Still looking for decent pedals and other random parts for an upcoming custom build but (threat of) rain and coughing kid. Last year's jumble is where I scored the Trek and almost bought a complete Serotta pista from the Trexlertown rental fleet. But at least i still have money.

Today the missus took the toddler mover out while I took the Trek to the park. She's only 2 inches shorter than me so she just had to drop the saddle a bit and it fit fine. Didn't like the actual saddle though so now I have the go-ahead to look for a new one.

Also got a text this morning from my mom that she and my dad hit a deer this morning. They weren't hurt at all but the front of their Matrix was totaled. The only thing my dad said was "it's a shame - at 204,000 miles the engine was just getting broken in."

I hate you for this - at least until you can post pics of it. Ciocc is like one of those mystical brands for me. So rare in these parts

Edit - the above Is jpsawyer's quote, which I obviously mangled too badly

Relaxing day today... hit the surplus store out in Boring, Oregon and got some great deals on stuff and think I need to go back tomorrow and pick up the mil spec bivy sack I did not buy today... $29.00 is a pretty unbeatable deal and am sure I will get some good use out of it this summer when I am cycle touring and then I can leave the tent at home.

Stealth camping anyone ?
