Bike fit before or after I build the bike?
Get a bike fit before or after I build the bike? Okay, that sounds like a dumb question, but bear with me.
After riding bikes for many years, (and being old and sore as I approach 50), I think it would be wise to finally get a professional bike fit and see how close I am to the proper riding position.
I currently have a 700c touring bike which I think fits me. At least it feels right, but the fit may be well off, for all I know. I designed the frame myself, so I hope I got it right.
In preparation for a South America tour I want to design a frame for a touring bike with 26" wheels, as that is more common down there.
So would it make more sense to
a) get a professional fit on my current bike and use the stack and reach (and other dimensions) to design my new frame?
b) assume the dimensions are close on my current bike, design the new frame around that and get the new bike professionally fit when it's done?
I don't have unlimited funds, so I really only want to pay for a bike fit once.
I know this may be a weird question, without the forum members seeing me or the bike, but any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks!

The guy doing your assessment may only do racer fittings and wont have a clue as to Touring riders needs .
You hiring a Custom Frame from the Data or just buying something . off the Peg?
Bars come up and get closer as I Age ..
