Finally getting around to the Super Course I picked up at the start of summer. Indecision as to how to build it, and distraction with other projects has prevented any progress since tapping the bb shell for ISO threading shortly after buying it.
Its in mock up mode here as I casually, and indiscriminately threw some parts at it this evening. We’re looking At 27” aluminum Araya rims on Suzue hubs. Stronglight 49d, Stronglight bb, and an Atom 5-speed fw. Cyclone MKII fd with matching friction shifters. Unbranded CRO-MO fork, Tange 2 headset, no name British stem, VO portuer bars, and a Taihei Compe seat post.
Its all over the place, but I think I like it, and may go ahead with it. I’ll probably go with a VX short cage rd, Mafac Racers, Mafac levers, Selle Turbo, SunTour Road VX quills, and a pair of skin wall Panaracer Duals. All of which I have on hand.

Making progress on the Super Course yesterday, lit a bit of inspiration, which in turn motivated me to refocus attention, and prioritize. Having too many projects, or potential projects not only brings distraction that hinders goals, but also creates clutter which fosters distraction.
So using Craigslist today I took steps towards a much needed purge that should help streamline my situation. I listed three frames for sale, listed three more that are “free to a good home,” and I put up a fair selection of parts for sale as well.
Still need to go through the wheels.
Clear all this junk out, and I’ll be left with one rideable bike, two projects which could be completed soon, and one frame I’m not sure what to do with. This would all be a major relief, and improvement!

I found this 87 Schwinn Le Tour back in the spring, I thought maybe I could do some minimal work and sell it on but headset and BB seem dry so its going to get some work before I put it up for sell

The rear wheel on my Raleigh was making an intermittent clicking sound yesterday that seemed like a loose spoke or two. When I took the wheel off this morning to balance spoke tension I found this:

I took the axle from a Deore hub and cut it to length, not sure if it'll be any stronger.
I've been scheming a modern build on this frameset and this axle issue gave another nudge in that direction...

I had got in a 25 mile ride on the CAD2... just before I picked up the snot-virus (I think that's the medical term). And just today chanced another ride. I really like the way that bike performs. I just ordered a Co2 inflator... as that bike will get it's own (always ready) little saddle bag.

Plain label Miki built bike. Tange #5 66 cm seat 58 cm top tube fits pretty good. 27.5 pounds as shown.
Parts bin build featuring my new CNC'd aero mount cable stop. Now I can use these 7s bar ends.

I finally finished the 3x11 drivetrain update on our tandem today. It was previously 3x7. I rebuilt the rear wheel with an 11-speed hub using the old spokes and rim. New Deore XT cassette, rear hub, rear derailleur. I think I used a KMC chain. The local bike shops didn't have a tandem rear derailleur cable, so I managed to get the old cable to work. Carol and I took an 8-mile test ride, and it's all a success. It didn't even need any tweaking during or after the ride. Shifting is very reliable. I kept the front derailleur and shifter, as they're already working flawlessly. I had to add a washer under the locknut of the rear axle to get the chain to clear the frame.
I got everything I wanted: closer spaces between gears, a lower bottom, and a higher top. We tried the top gear, and it still doesn't feel very high, and that's the nature of tandems.

I just put on some M750 shifters, missing the gear indicators, but otherwise great condition. I also got a nice M750 long cage RD, not mounted yet, because I need a longer Allen wrench, lol.
I also mounted some excellent condition LX v-brakes, with Avid Speed Dial 5 brake levers. I'm not familiar with these levers, but they're definitely nice. 👍
Anyways, this all went on a 2000 C'dale Silk Path 700. I'll post the catalog pic of the Speed Yellow version, but mine is Atlantic Blue, which is somewhere around the area of aquamarine or celeste. I'll grab better pics of mine soon, and start a thread. 😎

The '81 710, the '91 Cannondale SC2000, maybe another.
Otherwise, we are well into fall/winter project mode with primarily small maintenance items to tend to. Seat post changes and/or saddle adjustments, wheel truing, wheel overhauls (poor Prologue). Perhaps the soon completion of my '15 CAAD10 Disc.
My rain/winter bike ('74 Paramount) was thankfully dialed in before the rain, and is performing flawlessly. What uneventful riding it is when a competent bike is rolling beneath you!

Old Italvega Gran Rally as found!

Fork with Campy ends
This bike was left in a field in Moro Bay California . I paid $100 for it with all the Campy bits on it. I figured I would build it up as a "patina" bike! The Campy stuff cleaned up nicely and I am now ready to put it back together. This is too nice of a bike to let die . Columbus Tre Tubi , Campy drop outs , Cinelli saddle , 3ttt Bars and stem, Zues Competition seat post , Universal center pull brakes, and pretty much Campagnolo NR for the rest.

Latest is an old crescent Pepita 319... but after stripping it down I noticed the brake bridge is broken. Hopefully I can find someone to repair it here in Jacksonville, because besides that it the frame seems to be in great shape, it’s hand made 531 with nervex lugs, and fits my girlfriend perfectly.

This was pretty much a rolling & rideable frame, when I bought it. The brakes & drivetrain were probably the cheapest available to buy, lol, good enough for a flipper, I guess.
But the wheels are Alex rims on Specialized hubs, with a nice anodized finish. I'm not sure yet, but I strongly suspect these are sealed cartridge bearings. They are sa-mooth. 😁 I have a 700x38 tire on the back, with a little room left, so will probably splurge on fenders later.
