Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Yes, but I've only heard tem live, not on album. At the end of the set, it got worked up into a manic frenzy. Screamo isn't quite accurate, but the closest thing I could think of.

The Millenium used to be called The Ballroom. Brian Wilson produced them, and it shows. I'm not a great Beach Boys fan, but I love this one. I pretty much bought this for the first song, which has a super heavy intro. It uses harpsichord, drum kit and, I think, a tuba. The rest of the album is well crafted pop bliss.

Nice!

Saw converge and the red chord today. That show was over by 8. I hate early shows.

The musically pretentious might not prefer him, but I still find his experiments in polyrhythm and polytonality to be quite fascinating. A little brainy for jazz (in my opinion - I prefer the likes of Cecil Taylor), but pretty impressive anyway.

Personally, I've recently been enjoying...
Mr. Blotto (country-tinged jam fun - check them out if you're in Chicago)
Polish classical (Szymanowski, Penderecki, Lutoslawski...)
and some John Hartford (my current life hero) for good measure.
