Burley hitch on a Trek Transit
Picked up an old Trek Transit (or Transit deluxe, not quite sure) as a cheap craigslist purchase but the hitch doesn't fit on my wacky Brompton, as it's meant to attach to a very different frame shape. My bike shop tells me they've had good results attaching Burleys to Bromptons as those attach on the wheel axle. Does anyone have advice for how I can figure out if it's possible to hack a Burley hitch on this thing? The attachment on the trailer end looks similar to me

Have you checked the Burley website? They've got pretty good videos showing the various attachments and adapters available. Or you could call them.

Yes, my experience is the forged aluminum F shaped hitch will fit under Left axle nuts and QR lever end..
I have one, ... and their discontinued alternative hitch , a whole substitute QR skewer, and the clamp onto the rear triangle hitch..
I have not tried their more recent steel F like, axle clamped hitch.. [ own Flatbed cargo trailer]
For a different trailer, I have a Chariot , ball and socket hitch on my Brompton (& a second socket part on my Bike Friday Tikit IGH)

I've got the big plastic chainstay/seatstay Burley hitch. I find it is convenient for attaching to a number of bikes, although it can have problems with disc brakes and internal gear hubs.
