My thread on this very topic got moved to Politics and Religion, where I can't even post to it now.

It seemed to bring out the psycho in everyone.

It brought out the misogyny. That thread should not have been moved to P&R, instead, the moderator should have given a warning to the posters who have a problem with encouraging girls to ride bikes. Hopefully this thread does better.

This article generated some motivation among folks in our local bike club to put together some MTB opportunities for kids.

It started with one woman posting a link to the article on the club listserv and she was like “I want to let my daughter try this.... where do I start?”, and in no time a bunch of people were organizing something for kids.

I was so dazzled with the idea of earning an extra $1 to $5 a week, I hadn't noticed. Half of those prizes could be used to kill someone. I'm surprised there are no Daisy BB guns ("You could put someone's eye out with that!")

I saw a vending machine selling Grit on the porch of an old general store in rural Pennsylvania in the '60s. I remember a Rick Meyerowitz spoof, 'Hey kids, Sell ??it'
