Curious about the process? how long is the surgery?/recuperation for you? was it covered by insurance or did you have to pay out of pocket?
I have been dealing with trigger fingers and carpal tunnel syndrome forway to long.

Two years after fall and broken hip. Have riden 8,000 miles since. Gets tougher when we are recovering at this age.

Anyways ended up doing 50 mile solo ride yesterday. Been about a year since did last 50. Been averaging 35 per ride for past year.

Friend and I planning on riding our age before it gets warmer here in South Florida. Last rode age in 2017, so doing one this year means 74. Hoping to average 15-16 MPH for this long a trip but depends on the wind.

Wishing everyone well.

Thanks for checking in! Riding is going okay.....it has been 6 months since the replacement. Iím working my way back up to the longer rides. An 80 miler is going well now. But I donít seem to have recovered the power I once had. Iím nowhere near as fast as I once was. Iíve ridden some with the local group Iíve ridden with before the crash. I do okay on the flats but I now get dropped on the hills. Before the crash I could easily stay with them and even out ride most of them. Heck, Iím getting older, was off the bike for 3 months and had a hip replaced. Maybe I should be slower????

Iím signed up for Bike Florida late March and hopefully it will be good medicine for getting some additional time in the saddle.

It sounds like your riding is going well!

Iím learning to adjust my expectations.

Understand especially managing expectations. In same place. We seem to be doing great by all comparisons except to our former selves.

As before key is doing intervals of varying lengths, and then mixing with easy rides. Iím not doing enough interval training.

Letís check in later. My next goal is riding my age. Will see...

I have been dealing with trigger fingers and carpal tunnel syndrome forway to long.
I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand in mid-December. Doc said it was ok to ride after 2 weeks but my hand/wrist felt a bit weak so waited another week. No problems.
I had carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand in early February. Doc said it too was ok to ride after 2 weeks but my hand/wrist felt a bit weak and kinda bruised where he also removed 2 cysts from the wrist area so waited another week. Still no problems.
The new carpal tunnel surgery is noice. There is virtually no scar and the incision is very small.

Since I retired I have never received a bill for any surgeries (stent, prostate removal, hernia, carpal, etc.). I guess between Medicare and our good insurance from past employer we are very fortunate.

Hi. Medical work done by Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at Drs Hospital ó orthodedic part of Baptist, in Coral Gables. Group is highly regarded by other docs.

They specialize so surgeon who did my hip would not likely do hands.

You might check out the practice. Due to renovations some docs are now at Baptist Hospital on Kendall Drive. They likely have a hand specialist.

As you probably know surgery is always a last resort so perhaps there are other treatment modalities and perhaps not.

Wish you well and glad to help if I can.

I'm 68 and looking at the street out front of the house as the snow finally starts to recede a bit. Main streets are okay as they plowed them out and they have melted clear of snow, but lots of winter salt and road grit around, makes for slippery turns. Side streets have two feet of snow out from the curbs still, but the centers are clear if you don't mind dodging cars. I figure by this Thursday it will be okay, if not too wet.

Riding a Roam 3 disc, I usually do 30 kilometer rides but was adding 40 kilometer rides once a week by the end of the season last year. So tempted to pick up a vintage drop bar bike just to try out the drops for a longer ride. Test rode a Trek Cross Rip a few weeks ago and liked the very short ride, but am not ready to spend the money based on that short trip. Started riding last July, took a while to get the body used to riding, lost 11 pounds over 4 months, from 202 down to 191 pounds but gained 6 of those back over winter. Can't wait to get back on the saddle.

Iím 71 and just started riding again. My younger friend has been pushing me to do so. We both moved to the same 55plus development and he wanted someone to ride with and knew Iíd really enjoy it.

So so far Iíve just gone on a handful of short rides. My legs are telling me how much I can do. So far itís been great and as the weather turns to true spring Iíll be riding more and more.

Iíll be back
