500lb+ new rider - Adult trike?
I've been wanting to ride a bike again but I broke my leg as a child right when I was going to start learning without training wheels. Every so often I've tried to re-learn and it's never stuck and I recognize it's the frustration factor. I really want to use it as part of an exercise regimen I can work into my schedule since I'm finishing my PhD and hitting the gym has been difficult but I know I would take time out to just hop on my bike and ride to the coffee shop or over to the library on it. So I was wondering if anybody had any experience with the adult conversion kits or a suggestion for an adult trike model? I've seen the worksman trikes and they seem like a nice model but I'm trying to avoid laying out $1000+ from the getgo.

500lb, hopefully a little under that...but I figure go with the worst.

Your health is paramount. Nothing would improve your health more then a trike.

I occasionally see adult trikes on Craigslist. I suspect that either a Worksman, or the more common vintage Schwinn etc would be reasonable for your use.

Thanks, I think I'm going to have to invest in that worksman since I'm really unsure of a modern aluminum Schwinn. I would rather not bend the frame and basically waste a 1/3rd of the cost of a Worksman. Also super-thank you for the encouragement!

New Orleans, currently. Otherwise I would grab that immediately. We're swimming in bikes down here, a Brooklyn hipster vibe took over a big chunk of the city after Katrina but very few trikes seem to come up on the market. I've talked with different shops and all offer the same basic answer. I just figured I would ask people without a monetary interest since the shops are all too happy to order in a $1500 bike...
