There were no eggs to be had locally for a week or so, but we've got some stock on hand, now. Some stores, like Target, are limiting customers to 1 or 2 dozen eggs.

The whole flaunting recommendations burns me as well. Especially when people decide to give it a political slant. Luckily I purged my FB a while back and rarely engage there anyway, so my exposure to fools like that has been minimized. I rarely go out myself, but there is definitely a lot less people in areas that are otherwise highly packed.

Our family is self isolating as much as possible. It's REALLY HARD with a 4 year old boy and 8 year old girl. They NEED to get out and about and get some energy burned off. My wife is home with them and gets them outside when she can. She teaches HS and my daughter is in second grade, so she is busy helping her students stay engaged and helping my daughter accomplish things through the week. Normally our boy would be at a home daycare, but the lady that watches him is older herself and her husband has had several health scares so we are just not going to risk it for them. As we are both still working, we decided to keep paying her so that she isn't out of all her income (not sure what other parents are doing, but I'm fairly sure they aren't bringing their kids to her).

I am still going into work, but it is really to distance yourself from others here. It's a large-ish shop with only 25 or so people on staff. And the front office sales staff is working from home now I believe. I can do some work from home buy need to physically build some product from time to time.

One of the work contacts in NYC I kind of befriended is living in lockdown in Brooklyn and they just had a baby on the 12th of this month. I can not even imagine that feeling as a parent. Kind of good to be stuck home as it is, but logistically with groceries and trying not to bring a highly infectious disease to a newborn. Scary times.

In other, more positive news, I began building Roger Muusson's home built truing stand yesterday. I've had the instructions for eight years or so. All the pieces are cut out and I will shortly begin the assembly process. And then I will build wheels.
If I had to give up all things bicycle, I could be content building wheels for the rest of my life.

As a medical and government supplier, we are deemed essential under the governor's executive order. Like you, sales and most upper management are all working from home, and for those of us who still have to come in they have taken steps like leaving interior doors propped open to minimize people touching the same things. Came in this morning to find the break room closed off. No access to microwaves, fridges, etc. That's been a little annoying.

People are being told to eat lunch at their work areas. Ironic, because we have previously cracked down on people doing exactly that for FOD concerns

Real ramen is the work of angels. Instant ramen has varying levels of food-ness. If you're looking for calories via carbs and fat, and you want it with a sidecar of salt, the 25¢ per packet jobbers at the grocery store are the ticket. The more expensive ones at specialty grocers, $2+ each, can be quite tasty. Sometimes they're still loaded with fat, sometimes not (with cheap ramen, the noodles are cooked and "dried" in oil).

I think part of the problem is people don't realize, or refuse to accept, how bad the virus is. I read lots of people saying things like "it's just another flu" or "the democrats are ruining the world economy over a flu" or they will trot out statistics about how the flu kills x number of people and we don't get excited about that.
I've also read people saying how the virus hasn't shown up in their area so why should they be forced to stay home. Lots of minimizing.

I've had a bad flu before and it made me so sick I could see how it could easily kill people. This new thing is reportedly worse than those viruses. I read a couple first hand accounts and it sounds awful.

I would encourage you to continue posting your WTF text to them because obviously somebody has to let them know it’s not all right. There’s no explanation for these people’s irrational behavior. In a televised public address yesterday, Governor Cuomo was flummoxed by the number of people he saw socializing and mingling as normal on Saturday in a park in New York City, despite his recent orders to social distance one selves.

A close friend of mine, whom I already knew was a denier type, went ahead with a birthday party he had planned for on Saturday. I and a few other guests politely bowed out but that didn’t stop him from having the party. You just can’t figure some people, I don’t know what they are thinking.

all we can do is hope for the best but plan for the worst in the face of situations we have no control over. I’ll keep in touch with close family and remind them all to stay safe and follow the safe protocols, and that’s all you can do. I have group chats all day long with three of my sisters and that provides a lot of comfort to us all.
