Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Today I rode with a different club, one I haven't gone with in quite a while. I asked about whether they had a ban on e-bikes and they said no, but I have never seen one on their rides. It's only a matter of time, I suppose.

nice ride today. not super long but lots of climbing (56mi, 4500’) and greatly enhanced by my freehub being about 5x quieter than it was yesterday. took it apart last night, soaked the bits in degreaser and put it back together with liberal application of the DT Swiss “special grease.” almost like a new bike. so nice. i was SHOCKED when i spun the wheel in my hands. totally different sound.

Picked up the P-car this morning from the garage it spends winters at (just couldn’t connect with the garage owners the past 6 weeks). It’s always amazing to take the drive home.

The plan was to head straight to the pool but apparently the spawn was every bit a toddler this morning and thoroughly fouled up my wife’s stroller run. When I got home, she did get a real run in, and when they left to go to a play date, I headed to the pool. SLAMMED. 90* and high humidity will do that. So I asked the desk to call me when things settled down. They called about 30 minutes ago, but I’ve been locked into the MCWS (UF v. LSU) and with the Gators down 3-1, I head out to the car. THUNDER. [beeping] THUNDER.

But I did see the rally and am happy the good guys are up 7-3 now. Hopefully I can swim before the next tri in August…..

My mother always had electric blankets and heating pads. I didn't understand, but now I use a heating pad on my back every morning.

I don't know if anyone here remembers BF member Ovoleg but I saw him yesterday. He rode with our club years ago and then moved to Ohio for several years. Now he's back in the L.A. area and I see him once in a while. Yesterday he was on a gravel bike, just coming back from some dirt trails and happened upon our group.

Here is a pic of him from 15? years ago.

Illegal to shoot any wildlife in Boulder city limits. I am surprised he hasn't been tranqed and sent back to the mountains; he's clearly much too comfortable around people. And there's an elementary school across the street from where he is there.

Mind, I'm now charging the 5D3 to go see about shooting him the legal way.

That appears to be an urban setting and that bear looks rabid or suffering from mange.

Definitely urban setting; it's Boulder's Uni Hill. Didn't act rabid. Might have mange for all I know. Should be relocated.
