Di2 Russian Roulette - any takers?
Any of you played any Di2 Russian Roulette?
I have a 152k bike ride tomorrow and my Di2 is showing a solid red when checking the battery. Part of me wants to charge the battery so I don't get stranded with a fixie for 125k of the 152k ride. Then again, part of me doesn't want to charge the battery until it is closer to being depleted and I think the battery probably has a 152k ride in it...
Ah, the highs and lows of the playing the Di2 battery game...

When I first got mine, I ran it down to see what would happen. Briefly, you have a lot of time. Also the front derailleur fails first, and still gives you ample lead-time.

The other day I gassed my car up, and I was torn between topping it off to round to the nearest whole dollar amount, or to round to the nearest whole gallon amount. I wound up getting the whole dollar amount while missing the gasoline volume by 0.002 gallon (well within the error of the measuring device). Do I get full anal-retentivity credit?

Wow this is what Russian roulette has become. Should I load a round into the shooty thing (because the "g" word is controversial) and then spin it or should I just not load the round into the aforementioned device.
Me personally before long rides I will generally just charge my battery either the night before or a few days before just in case. I generally don't run it down or get really worried about it I charge it every so often and everything is fine. I have no real interest in running out of battery so if I feel like well I am going to be riding for a while I will charge it and then no worries.

I think this has been covered before, and I'll repeat myself. Lithium ion batteries should not be run down, that is one way to kill its lifespan. Not sure what you're trying to accomplish.

I recharge mine when it blinks at half charge. Been using the same battery since 2013. Never has let me down. Why not just charge it? Not worth worrying about.

Opted not to take the chance of the battery completely dying and charged it up before the big ride.
@wgscott yeah, I've been told/read about how the front derailleur stops first, then you get about 200 shifts before the rear one dies. But rather than risk it, I charged it up. All good.
