shimano GS200 replacement front deraileur shifter

I purchased a used trek 700 multitrack and the front shimano GS200 deraileur shifter is not working. What part can I use to replace it with? Thanks!

shifter will not go into the 3rd gear. I have tightened the shift cable and it is as if the shifter is not engaging enough to pull the cage over.

I degreased the shifter with WD40 as mentioned in a youtube video by RJ the bike guy.

Can you pull the bare inner cable by hand and get it to move out to the big ring?

Click it down to the small chainring, then click it down a couple more times while pulling the bare inner cable. Slack in the cable at all?

I used PB blaster in the shifter and that helped....it is now shifting on to largest chain ring with some effort.
Thank you for your help!
