Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Question regarding the new 105 R7000

Hey everyone,

I have a bike from 2015 with over 12,000kms on it running a mix of 105 (triple) and tiagra components. I didn't really taken care of it as I should (first bike) and I'm looking to upgrade to 105 5800 to freshen it up. The 105 is going for 400 euros online, could probably get a bargain on my LBS for 250-300 euros (lightly used).

While doing my research, I found out that the 105 R7000 is coming out in a few months. I know the prices aren't public yet, but I want to know from you guys with experience with old groupset refreshes, does the price stay around the same as the old generation? 400ish euros?

I really like the new 105 R7000, if it's gonna be 400ish euros, I'd rather wait for it.

Thanks!

Thanks!
Thank you!

Some sites are already listing the components and taking orders.

If the 5800's are still for sale around 400 euros, likely the new r7000 would be a few hundred more. Ultegra 6800 selling for around 800 cad; r8000 sells for 1050cad. So 5800 currently at CRC for 500 cad; I expect new r7000 to be around 700 cad, or just a tad cheaper than the old 6800

Can't keep up with all the new groups coming out, and now you've got 12-speed to consider as well.

Adding everything comes out at around 500 euros, 100 more than the 5800. I'm guessing if I wait a couple more months the price will drop to around 400.

I think the best option here is getting a 105 5800 from the LBS, then return in later once the 105 R7000 stock comes in.

Couldn't care less for the 12 speed, once I get this groupset, I wouldn't be changing much for years to come.

Thanks for the input.

Hes a friend and also an active member in our local club. He does this sort of things with club members, parts for cheap, credit, returns, exchanges...etc. Most of our members deal with him.
