Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Newbie: 2010 Specialized Allez Sport Double

There’s someone selling a 2010 Specialized Sport Double, good shape, all stock components for a good price according to bicycle blue book ($180).

I have never owned a road bike but have been riding hybrids for the last 2 years and I would like to try one out without spending $1000+

This would be for 20-30 mile workouts on mostly bike paths and some urban streets. Maybe working up to group rides and longer rides.

Is it worth trying or is it a money pit/will I want something else too soon?

If everything's in good working condition it should make a decent starter bike.
