How do I remove this?
My bottom bracket had developed a squeak and feels almost like it’s binding. How do I remove these crank arms? I’ve never seen this type before.
And the outer cups on the BB say do not disassemble, but there are arrows indicating which way to loosen.
I haven’t worked on this kind of BB before.

External bottom bracket:
should help. The cranks come off with a hex wrench, I believe. There are probably other videos on (for example) the Park Tools site.

This is a standard Shimano Hollowtech II Crank.
You will need a 5mm hex wrench and a Hollowtech II crank cap tool and a hammer to gently get the drive side off once you have removed the non-drive side (and to put it back on). Think of it almost like a stem in that the crank cap is the top cap on a headset to adjust the preload and two bolts on either side just like a stem. You will want to adjust preload and then alternate tightening each bolt till you get to 12-14nm (use a torque wrench that is what they are for)
Here is a great video from master tech Calvin Jones at Park Tool if you are more visual:

Whoa, I have never needed a hammer for BB maintenance. Just putting that out there.

Huh? I have had mega EXO/ EVO's give me a fit where a rubber mallet was necessary too install without bruising the palm of your hand...a rubber mallet is the way to go..depending on tolerances, your setup may require the same.

Thanks everyone. Ordering some tools so I can replace it. The bike is only 4 years old and didn't think it would wear out this quickly.

How do you remove external BB cranks like say a Hollowtech II crank? I tend to find it is quite handy to remove it with less time and hassle. With square taper cranks, no, a hammer should not be needed but that requires a less common tool.

I’ve never had a problem just pushing them out or smacking them with my palm.

On the plus side the cap tool is relatively cheap, the BBs are pretty cheap, and the replacement goes very fast. A $20 BB and 15 minutes of your time every 4 years isn't terrible.
Depending wildly on your mileage and conditions, 4 years could be a pretty reasonable service life. However, if you're wearing bearings uncommonly fast it's possible you would get better bearing life if you brought your bike to a shop to get the bottom bracket shell faced to parallel and the threads chased. External bearing BBs are a little more sensitive to bearing alignment than cartridge BBs.
