Hallowe'en rides, anyone?
We are expecting a pretty low-key Hallowe'en this year.
I am about to don my orange "First [and Last] Annual Great Pumpkin Run" T-shirt, left over from a one-time event sponsored by a now-defunct studio where my wife took ballet lessons in the 1980s, and head out for a Hallowe'en morning ride.
Meanwhile, our rescue kitty, Queen of the Night (for all you Mozart opera fans), whom we adopted almost three years ago after her previous owner died, is sitting at home, all dressed up for Hallowe'en and nowhere to go.
I am about to don my orange "First [and Last] Annual Great Pumpkin Run" T-shirt, left over from a one-time event sponsored by a now-defunct studio where my wife took ballet lessons in the 1980s, and head out for a Hallowe'en morning ride.
Meanwhile, our rescue kitty, Queen of the Night (for all you Mozart opera fans), whom we adopted almost three years ago after her previous owner died, is sitting at home, all dressed up for Hallowe'en and nowhere to go.

Began the very rare Halloween FULL Blue/Hunter's MOON ride at Moon Rise of 6:58pm yesterday and did a first segment 38 miler. Back home for a pit stop/refill then back out for another 38 miles. Hurting pretty badly from a bike crash on Thursday so I chose to shower and rest a bit before heading back out for the 7:27am MOON SET this morning. Tooled around to get mileage at 80 total and now heading out for 20+ to complete 100 miler or a bit more.

Yes.. .and stopped at a few houses that had some treats on a table curbside.
I have to say I did stop to checkout some of the little ones in costumes. Brings a smile to my face seeing kids being kids in this rather surreal year.

I rode yesterday afternoon making a loop through downtown Colorado Springs and the new Olympic/Paralympic Museum which was having a Halloween event for kids and families. I didn't dress up, but I saw many kids and adults along the way who did.

Impressive !! Did you try any miles by just moonlight? Our small group is planning on riding an unopen stretch of new highway tomorrow for our 1st 5:30 Monday night ride to be in darkness. We all have plenty of lights, but this new road that's through mostly undeveloped land would be a great place to try and ride by moonlight, which I've always wanted to do. Any idea what time the moon rises Nov 2nd? Hopefully it's still mostly full.
Did a cool & windy morning ride Saturday and I choose a florescent Orange sweatshirt for the occasion. All the way to Honolulu

I doubt I need to explain to anyone 50+ why I love Halloween. This year was going to be a bust so we skipped town and drove up to Cuyuna State Park. On the way we did a quick hike in Crow Wing State Park.
Being as we're in the middle of the freeze-thaw cycle, most of the mountain bike trails are closed in Cuyuna but the Sagamore Unit trail was open so we took the fat bikes for a pleasant ride with a couple of friends. Sunday we drove home swinging through Mille Lacs Kathio State Park for another hike.
My only regret, now, is not stopping at the Woodtick Inn in Cuyuna!

The weather on Saturday in southern Ontario was decent so I went out for a short ride to check out this house which was decorated for Halloween despite the municipal requests not to gather or go out. He decorated the drive with an Aliens theme.

John E : I love your cat's name!!! The Magic Flute is my favorite opera, mainly because of the Queen of the Night.
As for my Halloween ride, I did a solo day ride totaling 118 miles. Halloween is my favorite holiday!
