OK. Life is getting really, really strange...
I was watching "The Shooter" on TNT, and an ad comes on for "Etsy". I'd heard it before but not seen it from the begining, It's a crafty marketplace, right - a bit surprising, not the target audience, I thought, but probably a result of buying big blocks of ad time. I hope I am boring you to tears, as I was... until I actually watched the ad from the begining. There is a shot of a guy with white hair who is working on what looks like a custom steel bicycle frame.I dunno, maybe it's hipster bamboo or something. As jarring (but this one in a good way) as Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life" used as the sound track for cruise ship ads the last couple of years.
Hand-made bikes rule.

Might be kinda cool if it were like Needful Things. You know, you touch it, and you're transported back in time...

The guy working on the bike frame is doing some hand painting. I think wood grain.

I love Etsy for its insane collection of patches and pins, which I use on my saddlebags.

I asked on The Paceline who is the guy painting the bicycle frame? I thought he might have been an American colleague I had never met. He is from New Zealand. Here is more about him: https://blog.etsy.com/en/process-woodgrain-bike-frames/
