What color tape and housing goes with this frame

The frame color is gunmetal gray. The original brake housing was light grey. I'm thinking either light grey or black for tape and housing. Any suggestions?

I vote light gray. The black might be too dominant, especially with a fully cabled top tube. My opinion.

With gray, and neutral decals, you can do just about anything. If it were mine I’d do yellow tape and housing, celeste would also look good, but hard to really go wrong here. Whatever floats your boat.

I'd probably go black here. There's really nothing in the frame to tie in with. Colors could work, but there's a chance that it would just look random. Someone once suggested to me that a colored piece on a bike needs friends. Like if you go with red bar tape, there needs to be something red in the middle of the bike and ideally toward the back. The other thing that works is complementary colors. Red and white play well together, for example. But with a dark silver/gray like this, it's tricky you've just got light and dark to play with.

I would go with gray cable housing and white tape/saddle. That's just my opinion.

I would do light gray housing and black saddle/tape. Some bikes were meant to be understated. IMO this is one of those. Ymmv.

I would go with any color that isn’t black. Have some imagination.

White saddle with white tape. Or find a saddle that has some color details and match the tape to that color.

Not to encourage being derivative, but here is a pic of someone else's with the black/black treatment: CC Bicycle Gallery: Christopher Del Mastro's Miyata

Here is what I think would make it pop, FWIW -- black housing, grey tape, black rims, and gumwalls.

+1

Mine is a bit lighter grey than OP, but I'm very happy that I went with grey instead of black:

White tape to pick up the white lettering.
I agree with a zingy colour for the housing, just that you have to see what exact shades (“hues” I think is the more correct term) are available. While anything goes with gray, you have to like the colour on its own merits. I do like red, though.

Edit: Now that I see your housing, it’s perfect.

While I went with yellow on my metallic gray '86 (steel blue according to miyata) 710, at least I had a yellow headtube and lettering, so I went with yellow housing/bartape and a saddle with a yellow accent stripe....

Your gray bike without the yellow accents would also look good with RED tape/housing.

This is what I meant about the bar tape color having "friends". I went with red on my Grand Jubilé to match the head tube and seat tube bands.

But on my modern Kona Jake, I stuck with black.

(A silver stem, headset, and seatpost would probably help this bike visually.)

Big fan of the Jagwire titanium. Appears to be more like unobtitanium these days though. Any sellers out there with titanium Road Pro kits available?

I did try the non-OE packaged pieces on eBay and seems okay. Housing was labeled Jagwire and looked legit. No black-coated cables like the Road Pro kit though. I can live with that.

The two sellers I get mine from are great, and legit suppliers. Not in OE packaging, but I've never had an issue.
