Is there a Copper colored cable guard ?

So this little cable guard was on the 1984 Schwinn World Sport I am fixing up. I am putting copper colored hammered fenders on the bike and wondered if there is somewhere I might be able to replace this original chrome colored cable guard that was on the bike? I think it would look cool to have a copper colored one to match the fenders

Maybe cover that existing unit with copper colored self adhesive tape.

Good luck finding any metal chain protector these days, much less one that is copper.

Alternatives (use your existing protector as a template):

Copper Tape - https://www.amazon.com/XFasten-Condu...975900&sr=8-15

A piece of copper flashing would do, more expensive to source for such a small end use. Know any roofers who use it? They probably throw out remnants.

Get yourself a piece of 1/2 inch copper pipe. Cut it in half, lengthwise. Expand one half of the copper half pipe over something that you can use as an anvil to shape the inner curve to fit your chain stay. Once proper fit is defined, file or grind the copper half to shape. Clean up with a fine file. Water sand or polish the copper half to a mirror finish. And then, silicone seal the piece to the stay. And Bob's your uncle.

I did this once, many years ago. I found the piece to be a bit heavy but it did work for a while. I say for a while because, as is often the case, the bike got sold in short order.

There's always copper sheet:
https://www.mcmaster.com/metals/copp...ickness~0-021/

12"x12" for $16.95. Make a bunch of them. They have many other thicknesses available.

For those who can't find metal chainstay protectors, a 1"x36" piece of 304 stainless in .03" thickness will run you a whopping $7.15. They are easy to make. .024" is just over $6.

I do know a roofer in my subdivision! I’ll have to see if he has anything

You could also use copper vinyl wrap for a chain stay protector, just cut to size. About a thousand choices on eBay. Personally I usually use clear 3M leading edge tape, cut to shape and apply using the wet method in the instructions, almost invisible. Also works on other parts of the frame to prevent stone chip damage.
