I知 loving this hot & cold water spigot!

For me, the miserable aspect of winter riding (whether it be riding the commuter around town or the Fat bike in the woods) has been rinsing salt, snow, ice, and mud off the bike when it is frigid cold out.

Finally installed this in place of my cold water outdoor spigot:

Wish I had done this a long time ago. Snow and ice blow off immediately, and my hands are not numb from the cold.

And the bike is literally steaming afterwards.

Necessity, no. But boy is it a welcome treat when it is 20 degrees out.

Thanks! I went to the Woodford website. I could run hot water but I'd rather not. However, I saw their frostproof faucet (as long as you take the hose off) that looks perfect for my bike wash spigot. It's ingenious. The valve is located well back, inside the house. Just have to ensure there is a downward slope to ensure drainage. (Went to the site. Several models do not require taking the hose off. Perfect! Post ride cleaning in freezing weather! Now I rarely finish rides below freezing so the hose will usually be thawed by then.) Now I have to go find the cost and see if I have to take out a second mortgage.)

Thankfully this is a moot thread for soooo many of us. Washing frozen bikes, that is.

I just want a cloud blower-awayer. Haven't found any.

Clear your handlebars and your mind will follow.

That is a great idea.

I've run a hose from the drain valve of the water heater to fill the kid's pool before, but a permanent fixture would save a lot of hassle.

The one I installed was $105. I used the version with the PEX connection.

Yeah, the design is really nice, I did need to re-drill the existing hole so the pipes were sloping down. But it really does drain everything out well back past the wall when I unhook the hose.

You just need to get on some of the wacko conspiracy sites. The chemtrail crowd thinks that spraying vinegar around will break up chemtrails and "chem clouds" while the other nutters have built "cloudbusters" which supposedly use orgone energy to break up clouds. YMMV.

The house I live in was built in 1964 with Woodford Freeze Free valves. Had to replace one this year due to the valve handle breaking off, and rebuilt the other one with a new seat seal. High quality stuff. Didn't think of adding a hot water line. DOH!
