Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What bottle cages is everyone on a carbon fiber bike using?

I'm trying to find some good (looking and quality) bottle cages for a carbon fiber aero bike that don't cost $50 each. Any recommendations?

I got some carbon fibre ones from China on eBay. Think I paid $26 for the pair all in.

A lot of people, myself included, use Elite custom cages. They aren't the lightest but they are great cages for the money.

Clicky, clicky.

Yeah... you're pretty much gonna have to get them from China if you don't want to spend the dough.

I've used several sets of China cages, there's nothing wrong with them.

I have these and they hold my bottles well. Some people that are all about labels will tell you different but I have never lost a single bottle even on rough roads.

Yep. I use the Elites pictured, but got them at Nashbar on sale for about $10 a while back. I also use Arundle Sport cages (plastic) which can be found for ~$12. Both hold bottles securely and have held up under a lot use.

Elite custom race elites on the Noah Pro and Tacx Tao cages on the S3 and Merak. I think I spent less than $80 for all 3 sets.

I have been using Arundel cages for the past six years. They are super expensive but work brilliantly.

Thanks! I was looking at those but wasn't sure about the quality or how good they look in person.

They are great cages, you certainly can't beat them for the price. I have them on my Colnago and on my Fuji.

These look a flimsy. Are they durable and do they hold the bottles well even when you hit bumps?

Tacx Tao's actually have an awesome reputation. I don't recall hearing / reading anything bad about them.

Another Elite user here as well. First I had white/red and now red/white. Only problem I have is I can't seem to keep them clean, but then again, I don't try really hard...

Tacx Tao are clearly the "Riders' Choice" of the 41.

I don't even use them or ride a CF bike, but I know this much.

Personally, I use stainless steel King Cages.

They've been on the bike for 3+ years and no issues or lost bottles. I do choose bottles that fit snugly rather than listen to them rattle throughout the ride. I've read reviews of people breaking the bottom tab, but hasn't happened to me yet. I see Nashbar has them @ $8 now.

I have these on my bike and really like them (in black/red on a mostly black bike):
https://cycleloft.com/product/special...ro-50615-1.htm

Had them on my TriCross and moved them over to my Tarmac when I got it last year. They're about 3-1/2 years old. The paint is barely starting to wear, and I'd probably just replace with the same when it comes time.

Tacx Tao get two thumbs down from me. I received two of them as a "free gift" from a bike shop when buying a bike. They don't actually grip the bottle so empty bottles are prone to ejection on rail road crossings and really bumpy roads. I'm a big fan of the blackburn camber cf and have them on all the bikes now. A little pricy, but I like all the matching colors.

The Specialized rib cage pro's are nice, but my experience with them was that some water bottles, notably Camelbak Podium and Performance bottles, were an annoyingly tight fit.

Those ebay Chinese carbon cages work great although I take issue with some of them passing em off as Bontrager or some other brand. Let your product stand on its own merits (and these do)
