The article that Bah Humbug linked in the bar flipping thread got me to wondering.
How much weight do you alll have on your hands?
I know that there isn't a great way to quantify that and it will end up being super subjective, but would you describe your ideal road fit as having a lot of weight, a moderate amount, or as little as possible weight on your bars?
Definitely for the rando bike I want as little weight as possible on my hands, but I can tolerate it a bit more on the roadie if I'm only going to be out for an hour or two.

Zero is the goal for me, too. Not sure if it's feasible for me with most frame geometries, though. At least at my current fitness

I've read Steve Hogg's blog post about saddle setback quite a few times since I can never seem to unweight my hands like I want to. Reading his article I check all the boxes for someone who needs a relatively large amount of saddle setback: I drop my toes, I'm not terribly "functional" due to my desk job and lack of stretching, and I don't put out a lot of power so I'm not really offsetting much of my bodyweight backwards. I've just always wondered if I'm just overly sensitive in my wrists or I just need to suck it up and buy some bar tape other than plain cotton.
I do have a feeling that some people have a lot more weight on their hands than I do, I've never seen the need to double wrap bars with super cushy tape or anything like that
All this time on the trainer, on my roadie because my ribs still aren't right, has demonstrated that. I could sit on the tri bike just fine more or less indefinitely on the trainer until my nethers need a rest (gotten better about that on the roadie at least, hoping it will translate), but my lower arms go numb easily on the roadie. Rock and a hard place. Less weight there would be ideal, but probably more of a trainer thing than outdoors where you can and do shift your weight more. However, I definitely would like to get a zero-offset post and move my saddle forward to match the TT position more closely...

Not particularly gratifying.
Then I tried to get some real work done but kept getting interrupted. Ended up having to bring people up to speed on a matter that they should have been informed of by, you know, people in their departments.
Frustrating. Sometimes I feel like I will be operating trains before long.

And now it's my turn to regift the thanks to you - that was a fascinating article and I thought "man I'd like to have that guy fit me" (as I am in dire need of a roadie fit) and it turns out he has a approved fitter just north of the river here. If I'm going to take a positive out of this mess, it's the timing - if my MIL had acted with any sense of urgency and got in to an assisted living facility before stuff went sideways, my wife would have been a wreck. W'burg has a large retirement community and has been the worst county in VA.

Started to get ready for a trike ride and my wife said let's do the tandem, again.
Only 19.2 miles at 15.6 mph but that's a 50% mileage increase over Monday's outing. Did have to stop once for her to stretch her back out.
