Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

To the extent that I hear what other shops in CNY pay, I'd say it's mid-teens per hour. Depends on the shop, of course. Current minimum wage in New York State is $11.80 ($15 in NYC).

I recently have had a significant amount of emails making their way past the spam filter on my personal email.

I must have put my email somewhere I shouldn't have.

Or maybe Gmail is slacking!

Don't get me started on email spam. I have had the same email since last century. I really don't want to change it but there is so much spam I may have to start with a new one and relegate the old one to spamdom. Sad!

My email is on hotmail, which interestingly was originally titled HoTMaiL for HTML mail. Get it??

I think I signed up somewhere around 1997 or 1998.

It's hard to say goodbye but may be time.

The thing that's pissing me off with my spam email is that my desktop client doesn't have an easy way of adding an email address to some kind of "Safe Senders" type of list. Consequently, I have to fish Merlin and PBK emails out of the spam can and I need to go through my inbox and delete 20% off coupons from Michael's and BB&B every day.

I still have my pre-MS hotmail address, too. I check it twice a year or so.

Bummer, you could easily miss the PBK "Flash Sales" that way. Sad!

And speaking of watts, I have not been on a bike since Sunday. Thinking I might try an FTP ramp test this evening just for kicks.

So our computer system has a new icon that looks JUST like Mr Bill from SNL.

I mentioned this to my colleague who is in her early 40's. She had NO idea what I was talking about.

By name? No, just that he believed that it was happening somewhere in the upper back, which, as previously mentioned, has some angry knotted muscle. He talked about symptoms and said that situational numbness, in and of itself, isn't terribly concerning. though it's something that shouldn't be ignored. He said that any progression to pain and, worse, loss of strength, would be more serious. He listed a couple of things that could cause it, but my impression was that it stemmed from the tension, one way or another, and that having physical therapy address it, through whatever combination of stretching, massage, exercise, etc, was the best bet. If that doesn't work, he said that an MRI may be in order.

The oral steroid is for inflammation and I get the impression that it's perhaps temporary relief until the therapy sessions kick in.

That’s better. He is right that it’s not likely to be serious and without significant pain, weakness, or muscle changes, no one is going to do much about it.

I’ll just make the general observations that a. the nerves in the arm come out of the spine in the neck and go right under the collarbone, over the armpit, and into the arm, so only a bad neck would be a factor and b. without pain, tingling is more likely related to a problem somewhere in the arm, itself. These things are often diagnosable with reasonable accuracy, based on the location of the symptoms.
