Wheels
I ride a Jamis Coda and want to upgrade my wheels...the wheels that are on my bike are Alex ID-19 can $300.00 buy an upgrade wheels ?

Don't be afraid to do some research on your own, then tackle a wheelset from eBay......I've gotten some incredible deals off eBay on Industry Nine wheelsets for 1/2 price or less; that said, I'll keep an eye on eBay for a wheelset for my new bike - this is one of the best ways to really add performance to a bike........

I have researched and the more I research the more confusing it becomes..kind of like looking at a wine list when you know very little about wine. Lol

I bought some Shimano Deore hubs on ebay from HobbyJapan. Anyway, I wouldn't tighten the wheels too much if you want them to roll well. Some nice rims include the Mavic A319 and DT Swiss R460. You can search my posts to find my two Youtube videos on how to build a wheel. You can get the tension adjusted after at a bike shop.
Also Schwalbe rim strips work pretty well. And you can burn a bees wax candle to dip the ends of each spoke (avoids corrosion). I use the Leonard spoke calculator online.
EDIT: I just noticed that bike has Randonneur tires. Panaracer Tour tires at 38c (measured mine at 36mm at 55 PSI) maybe could run smoother.

I'm 5'10" 220lbs and just want a more quality wheel than I have now.....maybe some lite touring this fall

The Alex Adventurer 2 and Sun Rhyno Lite in my opinion are both tight-fitting rims. The Mavic A319 and Ryde Zac 2000 in my opinion are "medium-fitting" rims. However, given your weight, you may want either a Mavic A719 or DT Swiss TK 540. My guess is they're likely medium-fitting rims although more expensive than the other choices.

I haven't made a video yet on fitting different tires on various rims but the old Alex x202 was actually a loose-fitting rim. Now it seems as though Alex is trying to look more "upmarket" by selling more expensive rims. However, I don't agree with their decision to go tight with the Adventurer 2. I mean the Mavic, Ryde and DT Swiss rims I tried were medium-fitting (in my subjective opinion).
You can also have variations though over time with tires as well. The Schwalbe Range Cruiser I found incredibly tight on 26" Rhyno Lite rims. Although the Schwalbe Land Cruiser (think it's newer) it actually medium-fitting. Other medium-fitting tires include the Panaracer Tour (although I suspect most Kenda and even maybe Michelin might fall in that category). I found the Contiental Ride Tour to be tight and the Maxxis Overdrive Excel to be loose. I plan on installing the Maxxis tires on both my Rhyno Lite wheels (700c and 26").
In the future though, I plan on going mainly medium-fitting tires on medium-fitting rims (like Mavic, Ryde & DT Swiss rims) and tires maybe from Panaracer, Kenda, Michelin or maybe Schwalbe. For my touring bike I had contemplating building wheels with the Mavic A319 and installing maybe something like the Kenda Bitumen tires but they're either 38c or 42c. I would really like 40c because the Michelin Cross Max is actually 42mm wide at 55PSI even though mine are marked 40c. There isn't too much clearance on my touring bike with the fenders installed to the maximum height. I'm guessing though Kenda comes out with new tires on a regular basis so maybe next year...
