Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Schwalbe Durano

Anyone using/used these tires? If so, any feedback?

Tiremanaics on ebay is selling a pair of these for $64.00.. Not a ton of reviews out there tho.

Will be used for fast group riding primarily.

I've been using them for about six months as training and, sometimes, racing tyres.

Very grippy, seem to wear slower than I might have expected. I like them. If I have a criticism it would be that they tend to pick up small cuts quite easily. That may (this is just my speculation) be a consequence of the softish compound they use to deliver grip. Having said that, they don't seem to puncture more easily than others I have used. At that price I'd certainly give them a go, they're a pretty good tyre.

I've been using these for 4 months or so.

I agree with the small cuts, I have quite a few, but no punctures yet. I've seen glass embedded in my tire that didn't manage to get through the protective belt. On the stock tires that came with my trek (Bontrager R1) I had 3 or flats within a month.

I ride these on the debris filled roads of Memphis, TN and am very pleased with them. I noticed the rolling resistance was a little higher the the Bontragers, but nothing to write home about.

from me.

An OK tire. We went through 4 of them on our tandem, 25c. We had two sidewall cuts that were tire-enders. The two that didn't get sidewall cuts were eventually retired due to ordinary tread cuts and resultant flatting. I wasn't that happy with how they held a line. Didn't feel as secure as I like in the wet. We didn't repurchase - moved on to other tires. We expected better. I think they, like all tires, would hold up better on a single.

I run the 28mm Duranos on 23mm rims (Pacenti, H+Son), and they work nicely. Can't speak to durability yet, but they ride smooth.

I have a set of 25c's on my bike, replaced 23c's MPro4 Races, I like them. I'm not sure if it's a result of the width increase which I love love love but the tire has been reliable with good wear. No flats yet (knock on wood) and they were easy to install which is another plus.

I've liked them. They mount very easily. Easier than any other tire I've ever used. That's also a good price.
I get cuts on every tire, and these don't seem to cut more easily than any others.

I've got about 500 miles on my durano S 23c. No flats so far, nice grip, does pretty well in rain and even the occasional light snow on the way home! I've yet to get those cuts but i suppose they'll come with the miles, I use them for fast group rides rides and enjoy them.

My Cannondale Synapse came with Schwalbe Duranos, 25c. After 1100 miles, there's still some sign of the rubber nub around the outside of the tire. No flats and they seem very durable. They seem as durable as the Gatorskins. I'm happy with the tires, but I'm not an aggressive rider.

Durabilty mostly. However, I am like most here that also like a fast, grippy tire. I know I most likely will not get all 3, but I would like to be as close as possible.

I have a pair of Durano S and I have used them for only less than 500km so far. But my first impressions are very good. No flats yet, very good ride quality and they roll well too. Got them for $30 from CRC. Very happy with them so far.
