Smart beats strong – a smart ebike can do more than just push you along

E-drives can offer more than just a boost. By intelligently integrating route, heart rate and rider data, they have the potential to revolutionise the act of cycling itself. Smoother, smarter, more efficient – we are looking at a fully connected bike future. We can unquestioningly embrace it, or we can reject it on principle. Or we can explore and experiment with it, uncovering possibilities and applications that manufacturers may not even have considered yet – and that’s the exciting part.
Interesting article at Gran Fondo.

I reject on principle. Don't want my ebike to measure my blood oxygen, pulse, and blood pressure while I ride. If it's going to log data, have it watch the battery temperature and start blaring an alarm when it gets over 70C.

We all have different world views and ride different ways for different reasons.

Some are putists and consider, ANY assist as "cheating". Those on this forum obviously see virtue in E-bikes, either as an assist for the terrain challenged, or as means of practical transportation, or someplace in between.

Imagine a hypothetical person managing a heart condition, who might benefit from data correlating work output and cardiac response. So, while one may be concerned about battery condition, another may be more interested in body condition.

Fortunately, each can have whatever, without limiting the options of others.
