1981 54cm Miyata 1000

It's on eBay. Sadly time constraints did not allow me the leisure of posting here first. In excellent condition for it's age.

Wow - Nice one, 23Skidoo. In an absolutely cosmic color yet.

I probably should have put this in the For Sale forum so if any motivated mod wants to move it. The 1000 is in really nice shape for it's age with good components and I agree with you auchen on the color--it's got some depths and patina that are outstanding. I'm sad that it half-dozen years of casual searching I've only been able to come up with one that's too small for me.

Very nice bike! The color scheme appears exactly the same as the ’79 Gran Touring. Except the ’79 had straight gauge tubing and sketchy brake boss mounted racks. Oh, and no half-step either. the '79 seems to have been set-up as more of a sport/tourer rather than a true loaded tourer. I've never seen an '80s Gran Touring/1000, but your '81 may have been the year that Miyata went all-in to produce the best fully loaded touring bike of the day and many days to follow.
