The other day I was looking out the bedroom window, when something swooped across the yard and disappeared into the ivy by the fence. A scuffle ensued, hidden from my sight by the ivy. Then a Red Tailed Hawk exploded out of the ivy, mouse in his talons, and flew back across the yard.
I swear he was looking at me, like maybe expecting thanks or something.

In 2013, while camping during a cross-PA tour, I heard an owl in the trees close by. A few minutes later it pounced on a chipmunk that was scurrying around a tree stump about 10’ from my picnic table. Poor rodent never stood a chance. I heard him make his last earthy chirp.

Would you favor banishment or just an infraction?
I definitely think the Az advocates should be banished.

Seems like a rather useless demonstration of govt power, not much different than making everyone hop on one foot for a day, or forcing them to wear certain articles of clothing. My nagging suspicion is that govt's only do this "because they can", and not for any actual legitimate public safety purpose.

I read an interview with one of The Great Barrington guys yesterday. If you really look at their proposal, and away from the news' version if it, it makes a lot of sense.

On two occasions, peering out the bay window, through the Rhododendron at song birds feeding at the feeder hanging from a corkscrew elm, I have seen flashes followed by explosions of feathers as a red-tailed or sharp-shinned hawk has nabbed a cardinal or house finch. A few times when a hawk has missed, she/he will perch for a few moments on the deck rail and occasionally look me in the eye through the window.

But then I would have had to drag all those albums around for all those years....
One of these days I'll figure out the parallel lifetime thing, and I can actually be in that apartment in Sacto. I had a quadrophonic set. Dark Side of the Moon was fantastic on quad.

The saying, "Never do a bad job well" applies better to editing than anything else I do. I'd rather shovel **** and I can't bring myself not to care.

I was reading cnn and saw this article about a swimmer being suspended for having an affair.
I don't necessarily applaud indiscretions, but seems kinda harsh to suspend him for this. Am I missing something?

It was 1974. DST began in January, and was supposed to last 16 months, but people had the ****s of it by next Fall, probably remembering children waiting for the bus in the dark in the winter, especially in the Northern states, and it was scrapped.
