Cable Adjuster for Sturmey Archer shifter

Hi, I bought a new SA shifter kit, and it came with what looks like a barrel adjuster. Does anyone know where this goes along the cable route? My other Raleigh doesn’t have such an adjuster. Cheers!

It is a kit made to fit many different bikes. A kit may include parts not needed on yours

That barrel adjuster would fit in the end of the fulcrum lever if your bike is so equipped. If the cable housing stop is mounted to the seat stay or chain stay, there will be no fulcrum lever in which case that part has no purpose.

thank you. Shift cable goes to a fulcrum clamp with little plastic piece, then over roller at top of seat tube, then connects w indicator chain.

Those brazed-on cable stops are pretty rare on three-speeds. None of the Raleighs I've owned or worked on has had them but I got a nifty little Swiss-built Condor at the co-op and it does have one.

The last photo shows a poorly ended cable casing as it enters the threaded adjuster. Note the cocked casing and it's being a sloppy fit diameter wise to the adjuster. I would have tried to see if a casing end ferrule could better support the casing end and also would make sure the casing end was filed/ground square to it's length. Andy

Mine is a condor too. Those braze on stops a quite common here in Switzerland. Allegro and Tigra used them too.
