I would say it's pretty simple. Keep the reservoir above the caliper, and it's no problem. Let the reservoir get lower than the caliper, potential problem.

Now, I'm sure the time I watched my mtn bike do a complete 360 over the top of me wasn't enough to be an issue, but I think I'll keep hanging my bike horizontally by the saddle and stem just to be sure.

One thing I have found is that if the rear wheels can almost touch the ground, the bikes are easier to hook... you just roll up to the wall, lift the front end of the bike and the wheel can go into the hook and the rear wheel just rolls to the wall. This is especially important for heavier downhill and off road bikes.

I mounted a section of unistrut on the ceiling and used the threaded Park Tools bike hooks w/ washers bolted on them to make a relatively cheap sliding rack, it works great. Unistrut does make rolling hooks but for the price of one of theirs I made all eight on my hooks.

I use one of those ceiling mount bike lifts from Amazon, no room left on my garage walls but a lot on the ceiling.
