2017 Trek FX 2? Good bike for $200?
Hiiii, everybody! /Dr. Nick
Was looking around for an upgrade bike (upgrade from a $60 1990's Specialized Hard Rock) now that I find myself riding more and more. Found a guy with a 2017 Trek FX 2 with a 22.5" frame. He says it wasn't used much except for his kid to ride back and forth to school.
It checks a lot of the boxes I wanted in an upgrade (700c, more gears, better shifters, price range) but weight of the bike + my weight puts me right at the weight limit for this bike (300lbs). Is that going to be a problem?
Also, is it a good bike/upgrade? I read up on it as quickly as I could while clearing out my garden for the summer, and it seems to be reviewed favorably, but most of that stuff isn't considering guys like me.
Any thoughts? All thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

Unless there is something wrong with it that sounds like a steal for that nice and new of a bike! Aahzz
rides one and speaks highly of it, I would hit him up with questions. He is heavier than you btw, the weight limit should not be an issue.

Three weeks ago my wife and I got a couple of FX2s while they were on end of year sale for $399. We both like them. I'm 295 lbs. No problems so far. I'd do it again.

That's a dang good price. I'd give it a good once over to make sure everything's OK, but that's a lot of bike for $200. I've done over 350 miles on mine, I'm 360 by myself, and I have had only one issue, a broken spoke, and that was after having to hop a steep curb, which I wouldn't advise but found unavoidable at the time.

Occasionally, I see prices like that for this model Trek. Just last night I saw a guy selling a 2015 7.2 for $100, it was a far drive and someone beat me to it. He had the original receipt from when he purchased it new, but had to sell fast due to moving.
If you are worried about the bike, have him meet you at a bike shop and have them look it over before buying. I did this when I purchased my mountain bike.
