I don't doubt you RaleighSport. Just annoyed that my bike is so heavy. But it's my own fault - steel cog, steel chainring, CroMo frame, metal pedals, Brooks saddle, heavy tires, etc.
It's no big deal though. I don't need a 17 pound ultralight bike. I just was thinking since I'm such a weakling and a twig of a man, that a lighter bike might be nice for really blasting off from a stop. I have to stop a lot where I ride, because of traffic and red lights. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a real light nimble bike - but I don't want to pay for it. Start replacing components that don't need to be replaced simply because I want them to be lighter...
And lighter parts typically cost more. So yeah, next thing you know I have a spendy ride, and it gets ripped off, and then I'm sad and broke and bikeless. No thanks.
Don't get me wrong I envy the guys with sweet ass ultralight race bikes. It's just not in my budget and not practical for my environment.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
26 pounds...
31 pounds, without any accessories.
My Kabuki will probably be fairly hefty once it is built up... The frame is rather heavy compared to my lighter steel road frames.

One thing's been bugging me, and it's really the same question OP has but more generic. When I look at the inexpensive SSFG bikes, on Amazon, at bikesdirect, other places, a lot of them top out at 30 pounds or more. How is that even possible? With almost no drivetrain, or sometimes without brakes even? I'm mystified about how I could take my heavy cassette and derailleur off and gain 10 pounds.
And why so (relatively) expensive for the lighter ones? It's not as if they have ultralight dura ace shifters.
And finally, is it stylish to ride with the handlebars backwards as in this amazon fixie? https://images.amazon.com/images/G/01...6A9YJJS_02.jpg

What bikes direct bike tops out at 30lbs and is it really less expensive than the Kilo TT? If you are asking about Amazon bikes it may be that you are looking at the shipping weight which isn't the same thing as the bike weight.

No, I'm looking at the bike weights.
edit, the BD ss are lighter, I'm thinking of the Gravity line which starts at around 22 pounds and are pretty heavy in the geared bikes. You have to check around to get weights, because the weights of the heavier bikes aren't usually listed.

Yes, but (discounting the ubiquitous snark, not that there's anything wrong with that) there's not really any answers. Mostly I see "it's heavy because you made it that way", which isn't really pertinent to the general question is it?

Your cog is slipping.
If you had read the parts of the thread about things like frame construction, grades of materials, etc, it wouldn't be necessary to ask such questions at all.
