What I have to look forward to tomorrow....
Hi Wind Advisory for my area:
"SUSTAINED SOUTHERLY WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AND EARLY TUESDAY MORNING WILL RAPIDLY INCREASE TO 35 TO 40 MPH WITH FREQUENT GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 45 MPH...."
whoo hoo. Hope I can keep it "between the navigational becons"...

35-40mph is where I draw the line. I've ridden in worse, and the scariest thing is to have a cross gust blow a big SUV into the bike lane right after they pass you. Drivers get caught off guard by those cross winds, and with the huge surface area that some of these big SUVs present, they get blown around fairly easily.

If the wind is so that it alters the course of the bicycle significantly, i don't ride. I think a wind advisory fits that bill. In fact i didn't ride this morning for the very same reason.

No Sh*t.
Almost as windy and coming from a much less pleasant direction. On top of that the temp will be dropping to zero and it'll be snowing for good measure.
Might be taking the train.
Cold: Dress appropriately
Snow: Equip Appropriately
High Winds: Where did I put my transit pass again?
I hate wind.

Wednesday they are expecting 25mph winds, i'll suck it up and ride. Good thing though is that on my way back i will have a tailwind for 70% of the ride But they are also saying rain and snow mix as well, so we'll see if i can suck that up too.

I'm in the OP's vicinity. The cool part is when you're in the downtown area and the wind funnels down between the buildings and nails you from the side.
The other cool part is that I cross this bridge on the footpath because I have to turn off immediately past the guardrail to get on the Trinity Trail MUP. The bridge goes East/West, so days when the gusts are high from the North or South, you feel like you could topple over the 4' rail.

Glad that I rode anyway. It wasn't anything like as bad as they were predicting. Got a great workout in too which usually means finding ways to extend my route. No issues getting in this morning into the wind either. Just tuck and pedal.

The wind wasn't bad this AM but it's rocking & rolling now. The building ( 2-story tilt-wall, strong sucker) is creaking. whoo!
I may be calling my chauffeur for a ride home

btw, my route is on a low traffic street the whole way, so I should be ok and not have to worry too much about getting blown into cars...

I think everyone is getting hit with some crazy weather right now. In chicago, it was around 46 degrees (with a feels like temp of 40) and overcast when I rode in this morning. By the time I ride home at 5, it is suppose to be 34 degrees (with a feels like temp of 22) and blowing snow. By 10 tonight, the temp will be 19 (with a feels like of 0). Basically, the temp is droping by around 40 degrees in less than 12 hours. Got to love riding in the midwest.
