It's a cheesy bike. That's why I faced the drivetrain away from the camera.

I put drop bars on my new mtb and have been using it for urban assaults and riding the trails... it feels more like a road bike as the tyres roll out fast, the bike is insanely light, and it corners like its on rails.

With the added gears and new lighter wheels it probably gained 1.5 pounds but I have yet to hang it off the scale.
It is lighter than my hand built hard tail which is just a spec over 25 pounds.

I am really liking this bike... it was made by a local builder who's passion was mountain biking although he also built road, touring, and CX bikes with a focus on lightweight designs.
I can't say how much I love those Hurricane tyres... they really roll out very nicely and are ideal for road use as at 75 psi they act like a slick and will handle hard packed trails exceptionally well when you run them at 35-40 psi as then the side lugs will engage.
And the frame, fork, and crank were a gift.

a little new to the board. here's two of my rides, a 2005 trek 7300fx disc (like my huffy handlebars lmao. i do.) and a 2005 subaru legacy 2.5gt wagon (5 speed). i dunno too much about the history of the trek, as i got it used for $40. all it needed was a new chain, cables and cassette! these were taken about a month ago, when i had put on new pedals, a sigma cyclocomputer and cat eye headlight. i've since added a novara saddlebag, topeak frame pump and a cat eye rear light.

Would it ease your mind to know that chances are good you'll probably walk away with little more than a bit of road rash? Most bike crashes are harmless, but since people rarely tell stories about their tamer wrecks, it's easy to get hung up on the idea that all wrecks are traumatic (some are, but again, the minority). Just don't ride like an idiot and you can avoid some of the harder lessons that some of us have brought upon ourselves. If you've made it through your 20s without wrecking, then you're probably good, barring bad luck (which can get you anywhere, on or off the bike). Don't stress it and enjoy the ride.

past that, fenders attach to the brake bolts, and the back fender usually is attached at the chain stay bridge.
modern fenders, like the SKS metal ones or Planet Bike plastic ones, have adjustable stays, so you can get them nicely set relative to your tires, then trim off the ends...

What are you putting fenders on? If your forks don't have a fender lug, you can use a rubber+stainless clamp around the end of the fork. Ditto, the rear, a clamp around the bottom of the seat stay.

Nice looking bike.
Very cool to see a picture of a hybrid that has just been ridden into the rarified air atop a classic alpine climb of the Tour de France, where I assume mostly only road bikes fear to tread.
Next time do it on a clear day and face the bike towards the camera!

Newbie alert! I got this for fitness, and commuting, but I'm a bit of a speed freak, so it's a bit more aggressive than your "traditional" hybrid. Tweaked a few things to get it to where I want it... it's pretty fast.
My '10 7.3FX, slightly modified, in my slightly dark, and slightly disheveled spare room.
I got some crap from the roadies on another forum ("why upgrade a hybrid", haters), but I love it. For the curious, the modifications:
Bontrager Race X Lite flat bar and 7 degree rise stem
Mavic Aksium wheels with Bontrager R2 tires 700c X 25
Shimano clipless pedals
Bontrager Trip 3 computer
Background is my old Huffy mountain bike, soon to be my gf's.
