Had the day off after being SAG support on Sunday's ride (what does SAG mean, anyway?).
So, I went for a solo century. Personal best of 7:22 total, with 7:10 on the bike--one 12 minute stop for latte and water. This is my tortoise and hare strategy for all brevets, so I am very happy about only 12 minutes off. I'm also very wiped out, from a full effort.

I completed my first century of 2009-6hr:21m:22s, the total distance was 103.24mi. I was happy with this century, this was the fastest century I have done, and was self-supported.

2nd of the month on Saturday. Capital 2 Capital ride from Richmond to Williamsburg and back. The start was kind of a zoo with the mass start. Set a new PR for me, though at 5:33 for the century.

My May century is complete. I rode 141 miles on Saturday the 11th. With temps climbing into the nineties, I bailed out of my first 400K brevet. It was a good ride as I averaged almost 15mph and got about 8000' of climbing. I am having a really hard time with the heat this season.

^^^ Slacker. Only one century so far this month?
I went 4 weeks without being on my road bike and was a little worried about my fitness for yesterday's century. No worries. It was "just like riding a bike."
My most recent:
May 15
102.2 miles
16.5 mph average speed
6:12:00 moving time
8:16:15 total time

Hey, I am back. I failed to do the February century (sick) and stopped posting. catching up now.
March. Resumed in March 14 by a 233 km with a home start at 5:00. I went to have a drink in a bar at Longny au Perche, followed the next day by a 150 km club ride (not qualifying).
April. 4 April was the BRM 200 of Versailles. Quite slow and rainy, but 200 km nevertheless. 11 April was the flèche Velocio. While the ACP team did a magnificent 620 km ride against the wind, we did a 363 km and arrived at Le Pontel (Avignon) saturday at 16:00, just in time before the rain which then started pouring all over the night for the latest teams, who all arrived soaked (latest was 10:00 sunday morning).
May. May started with a couple of cyclocamping week-ends. Both were great, the first even better. Then, yesterday was the 100000th BRM 300 organised by ACP in Noisiel. Could not miss that. Hilly and fast. I stopped riding with the quickies by the 120th km and came back far more slowly. this qualifies too. I guess I should not be posting here since Machka created a thread special for those who do not complete all centuries. Well, sorry. I will try to continue from here.

My May century is done. Did the SIR 400k in 19:32. Okay, more than a century but who's counting?
For the year, I've done 7 rides of 100 miles or more, at least one each month, one on fixed gear, one on my single speed and the rest with gears.

Whew!! May is in the books. I get very busy with other things on the weekends in May being a track and field official. This century ride was ok, but full of small annoyances. I started out in light rain, but was well prepared with wool leg warmers and lycra arm warmers. A decent reflective jacket kept the wet at bay as well. I started out going in to the wind, but that shifted to a cross wind which was ok, just not what I had expected. I made it to my goal on what I thought would be an out and back, but it was only 45 miles to my goal so I needed a extra 10 miles. I thought I had made it up, but I tricked myself into thinking that I had only 11 miles to go when the odometer was reading 79 miles. (That darn math!) (Either that or my blood sugar was getting low!!) I was able to put in the required miles, but it meant going into the headwind, and then when I turned and expected the tailwind that was when the wind finally decided to shift as well!! Ah well!! Fun to have the first 5 done. After June we will all be half way to the goal!! Congratulations to everyone that has made it so far. Keep up the fun times!!

June 5 - halfway there!
124.7 miles
17.3 mph average speed
7:12:54 moving time
8:29:29 total time
Went to Quintana Beach, Texas again today. My usual long ride. Absolutely gorgeous day.
Temps started in the upper 60's, made it to low 80's by the time I got home. Nice N wind brought dryer air than we are used to.

How did you get the water to look blue?

Ha-ha. Only a native would notice. The water looked much bluer today that normal, although I did use Photoshop Elements' Auto Smart Fix feature on that photo, which adjusts color/contrast/etc, and I thought it looked more true to life. I took the photo with an iPhone and most of my photos were pretty dark because of the angle of the sun (it was only 9 AM, and I was shooting into the sun).
Below is another photo I took, plus the original of the photo above. Neither have any color correction. Notice how dark my bike looks in the second photo. It was really a nice day today at the beach.

I might move there if the water will stay that Blue.
