^ Nice! Great composition, and it looks epic in scope ... kinda like ... well ... Montana. What part of Montana is that?
Here are a couple from the 250 mile ride last weekend. I do a lot of riding at night (commuting in the winter and longer rides in the summer). There is something peaceful about that time of day.
Passed Tony's Pizza along the way. A decorated WWII vet ran the place for 50 years, and was a Ventura icon before he died recently. Tony will be missed.

I'm trying to be less of a gravel wuss. How many miles of your ride were on gravel/dirt roads?
Once I was carrying my bike over a 25 foot section of road with coarse gravel. A friend asked what I was doing.
"I'm carrying my bike over this gravel."
She said "I recently rode 1,800 miles on a road like this."

It's really a dream commute. It's on a bike path along the beach, and there are long stretches that are wide open and without any traffic controls, so I can turn in a 10 mile time trial anytime I want. That's what I'm doing right now to train for the FC508 (that and the long rides). And our weather is such that I can do that all year long.
The commute is the biggest reason I can enjoy a non-sufferfesty 100 mile, 10,000 foot day in the mountains. It's a lot harder to manage that if you're weekend warrior.
Yea, I'm spoiled. What amazes me is that so few others who live and work in the same corridor do the same thing.
This weekend, it's going to be a 200 mile solo jaunt up the coast from Ventura to San Luis Obispo. If the weather cooperates, it should be pretty sweet.

Thanks. We we were riding in the Cino Heroica vintage bike rally, just outside of Kalispell. It is a 2 day ride. 60 miles on dirt and gravel roads over a mountain to the town of Hot Springs, returning the next day via a slightly different and more challenging route.

My son is riding on a 1977 Bruce Gordon with 28mm tires, Myself, a 1974 Alex Singer with 33mm cx tires which were even better both bikes, obviously steel.

Did the Tour de Fuzz today, metric century TdF has been mentioned as one of the possible 50+ rides. This is the 2nd year I rode it, and it was even better than last year. Great routes, good markings on the road, good support, excellent rest stop foods, and the after meal was whole roast pig, and all the food, beer, wine and ice cream sundaes you could eat. The event is put on by the Police Chaplaincy of Sonoma. Making the ride extra special today, grape harvest has begun, making all of Sonoma Valley smell like wine.

I really love this thread... the diversity of photos is amazing!
So Cal is hot, smoggy and really brown right now; no real green anywhere (except the darn Russian Thistle in the middle of the roadway), not until it rains again. I still find beauty in all the brownness however. Did a ride in Chino Hills State Park (Riverside County, CA). In order to beat the hear (sortof) we started at 6:30a. Coming back on Skully Ridge, the sun was hot and it got hot; around 88 (at 8:30a). We still had a long way to go finishing up around 9:30. 19 1/2 miles, 2000" of climbing... no one else around had the park to ourselves...

The thing that makes me hesitate is that with the extra commuting time, plus the time to shower and change before getting to my desk, then changing out of work clothes into something suitable for riding home after work would add over 3 hours to my day. The upside is that I'd quickly learn to ride in the dark - and the cold!
