DeceptivelySlow, are you in VA? I'm very close to the Skyline Drive and spend a lot of time up there.

I am in NC; still have a fondness for the mountains in VA from my time at VT, of course a bit SW of you. Being a cyclist, winter isn't my favorite time of year but getting up on the Parkway (or Skyline Drive) when it is closed for weather is a nice winter bonus.

Fitting lyrics from Ray....
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
Also the home of Otis Redding...
Left my home in Georgia
Headed for the Frisco bay
I've got nothin' to live for
Looks like nothin's gonna come my way.

Truthfully, I've ridden in crappier places.

Since "pvillemasher" is whining about photos, here's a photo from this park that has banned electric motor bicycles.

I like pictures more than words, and saddle sores more than arguments in a thread that has been, for more than five years, a collection of images that capture our mutual love of the places we have discovered on our bicycles.
Personally, I am a stubborn traditionalist. As a one-handed rider, I am committed to navigating a two-wheeled, diamond frame, drop bar, fully human powered bicycle as long as I can. Along the way, I've been lucky to have friends and industry players help make that journey safer and more enjoyable. As an adaptive sports coach for more than 4 decades, I've also seen technology open up horizons unimagined for physically and cognitively challenged athletes.
When the day comes that I need to decide on a recumbent trike to keep me somewhat upright, or an electric assist to carry me up a pass to the spot that always takes my breath away, I'd prefer that the choice be mine.

This seems to be a thing in NYC. I totally approve.
These guys rode a manual right through Times Square and only dropped the front wheel down when they hit a red light.
