I'm 58, so definitely an old fart. I have never worn a USPS jersey or any other team logo.
I ride because I like going places while I work out, I can push myself really hard for 6-12 hours, and still be able to walk the next day.
Also, it cracks me up that I'm way better at this than most 28 year olds and enjoy the puzzled look they get when the gray-haired guy zooms past them.

Late baby boomer here. Been riding since I got a Schwinn Stingray sometime in the '60s. Never had a USPS jersey, but I do have a Mapei one.
There are enough young riders in the college town where I live that it drove me to the username you see here at the left, even though at 57 I am nowhere near oldfartdom.

I had one of those early fixies too ! I think I read '58 was the height of the Baby Boom and may still be the year of the most American births. I was early Nov of '57 and of course my baby nickname was Sputnik
sporting the obligatory cowboy outfit
Edit - just looked it up and it looks like '57 was tops -- I win https://www.bbhq.com/bomrstat.htm

Born at the end of 64, but I identify as a Gen X, so I am Gen X. That's the way it works in America!!!

1956. Rode a 72 Peugeot PX-10 and a 74 Bottecchia Professional during the bike boom years. Graduated to a Shogun Samurai in 1984. Still riding my collection of fantastic Japanese steel Centurions & Fujis at 63 years old. Still do at least 2000 miles a year around 15 miles per hour average. Got a carbon fiber bike I hardley ever touch. Lets go. Bring it on Gen X!!!!

I spent the summer of 1969 mowing lawns to buy a Schwinn Varsity. It was my main mode of transportation to school and friends houses. Been riding ever since.

I'm both a baby boomer and a "war baby", i.e. born in 1946.
I've had 4 or 5 iterations of biking, but steadily now for 7 years (sometime after having a spinal laminectomy and fusion - running is out, and biking had become my passion). While I do wear cycling jerseys and shorts or tights depending on the weather, I don't wear special jerseys.
Most importantly, be safe!
Best regards

still waiting on your Woody pic BKE.....wait that doesn't sound right - you know, from Toy Story My Dad was ex-military and I was his recruit - many battles would ensue over the years concerning hair length.
