Bikes have been going really cheap on Chicago Craigslist. Not even worth listing stuff at this time of year. I've got a really nice Super Sport that I've listed for a few weeks with barely any response, and its priced cheap.

Weird, we were talking about old Lemonds the other day on C&V, then this pops up:
https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/1507326890.html
Also if I were in Portland I'd go grab this bike just to build up my parts bin: I bet this thing is gone by 2pm if its not gone already.

3cm Trek 420 Road Bike - STI, Rides Nice, Puncture Resistant Tires - $300 (mission district)
Date: 2009-12-13, 1:05PM PST
Reply to: sale-vyxn8-1508455530@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
So I tuned up the bike and it is working well. The one issue is the left shifter only goes into the big and middle chain ring on the front. It does not go into the granny gear. It works fine as is but may need to be replaced at some point. Even if it stops working all together, you will be in the middle chain ring which most riders use for about 85% of the time anyway. The rear shifter works well and has 7 speeds. The shifters are Shimano RSX with STI integrated shifter and brake levers. The wheels are straight, the bearings are tight and the brakes are strong. $300 firm.
The rest:
Aluminum frame
Shimano RSX Dual pivot braks
Shimano Sora rear derailleur
The rear wheel was replaced with a Shimano 600 hub and Matrix rim
The front wheel is a RSX hun on a Rigida rim
Sigino RD5000 cranks
Puncture resistant tires: Bontrager Race Lite w/ Hard Case front, Specialized Turbo Armadillo rear
53cm frame should fit someone 5'6" to 5'8"

Interesting, that LeMond Z bike is listed in the sales section here as well with what appears a BF discount applied.
Anyway, we all have heard stories of that proverbial barn full of bikes, well this attic full of bikes just popped up on the local CL:
The ad says Schwinns, but I see a Specialized and a Cannondale, who knows what else it squirreled away up in that attic space.

Mens's Schwinn Road Bike - 12 speed - Traveler - $100 (Arlington)
Date: 2009-12-13, 2:04PM EST
Reply to: sale-svfah-1508278748@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
This bike has been garaged for a while. Aside from needing a tune up, it's in pretty great condition, and would be a nice commuter. Everything is working well and the tires hold air. Model is Schwinn Traveler. It's a nice celeste green color. I don't know a whole lot about Schwinn, but here's what I can see on the bike:
True Temper 4130 Chromoly frame
Sakae SX crank
Suntour components
Dia-Compe brakes front/rear
The frame is pretty large - about 63cm or so - probably best for a rider that is at least 6 foot. I am just over 6 foot and can ride it quite comfortably.
If you've any questions or want to come test the bike out, feel free to shoot me an email!

Date: 2009-12-14, 10:11AM CST
Reply to: sale-5kjcr-1509440258@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
We have not done anything to clean or try to restore these pieces as we don't want to damage them and appreciate their current beauty.
1) Pioneer tricycle by Gendron This trike appears to be red paint and chrome. We think it's from the late 1910's or early 1920's. The front wheel is approximately 20" in diameter and the tricycle stands 32" at the handlebars. The trike has wire spokes, hard rubber tires, leather seat, and locking teeth for adjusting the handlebars.
2) Small Tricycle which we believe is also be in the Gendron family. We believe this piece is from the late 1800's. This little trike has a 13.75" diameter front wheel (without a rubber tire and it again appears that this is the original construction). As pictured, the top of the seat stands only 17" off the ground and the handlebars are only 21" tall. The rear wheels do have hard rubber on them. The trike also has wooden hand grips. The leather seat, rivet construction, and a split front are consistent with one or both of the other described Gendrons.
3) Pioneer bicycle by Gendron This bike was probably painted black. We think it's from the late 1800's . Split frame and rivet construction; leather seat; locking teeth for adjusting handlebars like the trike listed above. The wheels are approximately 18" in diameter, including the hard rubber tires and the bike is 31" tall at the handlebars. The rear fender is broken. Skip tooth chain and sprocket. Roller bearings in the pedal crank. Someone way back when used wire to pull back the rear wheel.
4) Express Wagon We are pretty sure, based on photo comparisons, that this wagon is also from the Gendron Wheel Co. The bed measures approximately 30.5" x 15.75" A single sheet of metal was used to create the sides and there is a wood bottom. The wheels are metal and appear to be of original construction. The front wheels are about 14.5" in diameter and the rear wheels are about 18" in diameter. There is a stenciled T in a diamond on the front face of the wagon and "Express" is written on each side.
There are a few websites that have been helpful in my search for information on these pieces: www.tricyclefetish.com has some nice information about the company and some photos as well. There is a link for Gendron along the left side of the page. www.toledosattic.org/details.asp?did=42 also provides some history and photos.
I have plenty of photos of the details of these great antiques. If you'd like to see them, just ask. Seeing these in person is even better!
cash only please. I would prefer to sell the 4 pieces together but will split this lot at $100 per bike and $75 for the wagon.
