Trek 7.2 FX info needed.

I found a really nice Trek 7.2 FX at my local shop and need as much info on it as I can as to what it's purpose would be and how good they are. I find them quite amazing but would like as many opinions as I can.

I bought the 2013 Trek 7.2 FX a couple months ago for $560 (including tax). So far it's been great. I haven't been able to ride it a lot, but when I do it's really fun. Mostly ride for exercise few times a week for 5-10 miles each time so haven't really put it through its paces yet. The bike looks amazing (its the black with a little red). I test rode a Giant and Specialized Sirrus too, and I just didn't like the feel as much as I did the Trek. Most important thing is for you to try it out, and other models in the same price range and see what feels good.

It is one of the most popular bikes on this forum. Search the forum and you will get hundreds of comments on this bike. In the end, it is a nice hybrid built to a price point. A solid, if not necessarily exciting choice that should last you for years. Sort of the Honda Accord or Toyota Camry of bikes. If it fits you and you otherwise like it, buy it and don't look back.

Bought one this year. 2000 miles on it so far this summer. Added rack, panniers, saddle and fenders. Love it.

Add another satisfied rider; have a 2012 7.2FX and have put over 1000 miles on it since I started riding regularly 4 months ago. Ride on paved roads for 75-90 mins at a time. Did replace the grips with Ergons to reduce numbness in hands and recently swapped out the stock pedals. Bike looks nice, rides nice (quiet)....highly recommended! As someone else said, just make sure you get the right size......

Happy riding!

not sure I would call them "amazing" it's a bicycle. be wary of the hard sell. you might also look for used, there's a ton of them out there cuz they are so popular, just get the right size.

well maybe not a ton of them in your area ...

I bought a 7.2FX three months ago and have been riding practically every day since. Ive upgraded the grips to Ergon GP1, a must imo since the stock ones are uncomfortable after long rides. Also upgraded tires to 700x25 Armadillos which made a significant difference in speed. Im already looking at road bikes and even when I do upgrade, I will keep the 7.2FX as a beater. Great bike for the money.

I bought a 7.2FX Disc a couple of weeks ago and love it. It is a nice bicycle. I use it as a winter/foul weather commuter. I think it is comfortable for medium to long distance rides (20 to 30 miles). The components are decent quality and the frame very nice.

The bicycle with a Blackburn rack is a little heavy.... my all steel Trek 520 with a rack is lighter... but the bike is quick and fun to ride. It is also very stable and I feel confident riding down some of the big hills in southern NH.

I really like the disc brakes. It is my first bike with them. They stop well and supposedly are better in bad weather. Plus you don't have to worry about them rubbing if the wheel gets a little out of true (although the rotors can warp).

Eventually I plan on replacing the stock tires (and maybe even the wheels) and then later on the drive train components to a 9 speed system that is also slightly lighter than the stock components.... I might put a double chain ring up front or just stick with the triple...
