WTB: MTB shoes w/Boa that don't kill my trust fund!
Okay, joke alert... I don't have a trust fund.
Just bought a Soma Double Cross to ride on dirt roads down here in southwest Georgia. It has Crank Brother pedals and I need some shoes that have at least one Boa, are good to walk in and don't cost more than $150 for a pair.
Good suggestions? I'm looking at all the known sites... but there may be some sites I'm not aware of. Oh, in size 12...
Thanks in advance,
Gary

Thanks for this information. I am searching for shoes as well and they have a nice selection. As a plus they sell affordable Jerseys what is not that common...

I was in the same boat a couple months ago. My shoes broke and wanted some full boas that didn't break the bank but all the cheap ones fit like crap.
Ended giving up and getting a pair of Pearl izumis which are like sneakers with laces. Good decision in the end.

+1 for Fizik X5 Terra. I have the green suede version. They are SPD shoes and relatively okay to walk in. I had to change the footbeds (insoles) to get them comfortable for me. Excellent Boa system for quick tightening and release. Look great too.

The Fizik Terra X5 does seem like an awesome choice indeed, I bought a pair once and they seemed really good, my pair turned out to be too big so I returned them and ended upgrading to the Fizik Infinito X1 and while the Infinito is a higher end shoe I think the X5 is a much more sensible choice given the Infinito's price.
And within your budget there's the Giro Cylinder it's $140 and available in a regular and HV version. I'd love to try one of Giro's HV shoes as I have very wide fit they should fit nicely.
There's also the Shimano SH-ME400 it's $125 on amazon and I've always had good luck with Shimano's shoes they've lasted me 2-3 years of constant use.

Another option is the "Giro Cylinder". It looks very similar to the Fizik. It depends on which brand fits best. I went from Sidi Road shoes to the Giro. The Arch is good for me and has a little larger toe box that allows for feet swelling during hotter days.

Thanks for the suggestion! I ordered a pair from Backcountry this morning for $110.96 shipped!
That's the one I ordered - "Suede military green/orange"! Looks comfortable and I'm excited to try them. They shipped this afternoon and will be here Wednesday.
Thanks to all who replied! I appreciate your input.

Are the Terra X5s a standard/narrow width? I've been trying to find a wide MTB in this price range and a size 47.

Thus, for my feet, I would say that they are fairly standard width.

I bought a pair of Specialized BodyGeometry SL Footbeds (insoles). They fit absolutely perfectly in the Fizik X5 shoes and are a direct replacement.
The Specialized insoles come in three arch heights (red, blue and green in terms of higher arch support).
I'd see how the standard insoles in the X5s work for you first.

Very long lasting, stiff enough for me, and plenty wide for me.
