Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well, you managed to find your way home (I assume), so you were organized. And you clearly covered 100 miles. So it's a century. Congrats!

I consider a century to just be a ride of 100 pluss miles outdoors. So you did a century

Congratulations

I pretty much went North, although I went east for a bit too. I wish I could've gone west but the coach has me on the flats for a few weeks yet.

Maybe you'd better go retrace your steps and check. You could still be out there!

How was the weather? The thought of riding in Colorado in February is a little daunting. Did you take the road along the foothills up through Lyons? That was one on my favorite rides 20 years ago when we lived there.

You know you have the racing bug real bad if you start trying to drop yourself.

Weather was OK. The training has to happen so unless its single digits or snowing I ride anyways. However, it has been the warmest january/feb on record and it really isn't bad riding at all. I think it was a high of 45 that day and a couple of days have been close to 55.
You can actually do most of the climbs around here too as long as you don't go up too high to peak to peak.

I rode 36 up to Lyons then on a very convoluted route past carter lake to big thompson canyon.

Dude was being a real tool.

He kept attacking all the uphills trying to break up the group. I tried to explain that it was only Febuary and that there was no group. He wouldn't listen, but then he flatted and couldn't bridge back up anyways.

I almost burst out laughing in the middle of my Art class a couple weeks ago. We are studying modern art, and the instructor was telling us about Andre Derain, a painter from the early 1900s. In his description of Andre Derain, my instructor gasped out, "And he once rode ONE HUNDRED miles in ONE DAY!!" . . . . . . as if doing so was accomplishing the impossible.

So, congratulations, if that was your first, you've joined the ranks of those of us who accomplish the impossible!!

Serves him right.
That'll teach him for messing with improbable paradoxes.
Maybe next time he'll play nicer with the physics of the impossible.

True enough, quite some people have accomplished centuries, but i can't help but wonder on what bike and with which equipment Andre Derain did it in the early 1900s...
