How would it compare to a Trek 930 — same year or a tad younger?

if that were my bke, i'd swap the fork/stem/headset, find a decent older xt RD, new tires, tune it up, and ride it....

The Series 30 Rapidfire shifters are one piece with the brake levers? Funky. I rode a new Series 30 way back when, bud didn't like the Rapidfires and ended up with my Series 20 instead. Curiously, the one sales guy said not to bother riding a Trek Antelope (I was fascinated at the time at the thought of the boinger fork) if I was looking at any Paramount.

Could go either way, with a little more room for the 930 to be newer. The 930 was produced from 1990-1999.

Just got VINTAGE SCHWINN PARAMOUNT SERIES 30 MOS PDG FREE, the tires needed air..

Was reading this thread because I just picked it up. Was on Facebook Marketplace, free because pretty much there rich and the tires were flat. I pumped up the tires and that was it! Lol
I thought maybe the tubes need to be replaced but nope and they stored it so well it's in like new condition. Nice score, don't argue, because, I'm not looking to make money. I am a rescuer of abused, neglected bikes of all kinds lol.

And I help with stolen bike recovery. I've actually helped get 5 high end bikes returned to their owners. So I plan on tweaking in a little bit you know tune up get a guy to ride it because it's the man's bike and it's too big for me and then give it to charity organization that has a cycling program that helps troubled kids and ex-cons. Basically offer them a hobby, those that find a passion for it often go on to have a much better life than they had before.
Just just sharing not bragging! Lol😁👍
