LOL, you mean “refurbs”? I have no problem with refurbs, but that wasn’t this, this morning. 😉 Plus I wouldn’t refurb a donut or pastry unless it was getting kinda stale. It’s just too much trouble. 🍩 I knew there was a donut involved somewhere here. 😁

I only thought of it because I had just 'refurbed' myself a 5-day-old Costco croissant. Nine seconds on high and tastes just like new.

Hey, more wild turkeys!!! These guys just walked right by, while I’m having coffee, on a bike path in Roseville. 9 or 10 babies this time, and it looks like the father is still present. 🤔😁😉
I posted some recently in the touring forum, but there were “only” 7 babies, and no father. 🙄

This one gave me a chuckle. I rarely take pictures on local routes, but we got a new sign. Don't believe the hype. At best that particular hill is 12-15%.

And then I finally took a picture of this. Hard to see on the right, but this guy has a caboose in their backyard.

a pleasant morning ride to downtown Peoria where a charming/cheezy excursion boat is docked....
the return leg included a donut stop at Trefzger's bakery, which is located in a renovated bicycle factory. There is no truth in the rumor that the donuts are cooked in Campy grease.

Actually, I do ride that one in the saddle.
Only a quarter mile long, so it is short. It is third in my "hills" that are a few miles apart. The second hill probably or at least comes close to touching 19% at one point. But again, maybe a quarter mile with a little over a hundred feet of gain.

There were four of these polished stainless things just sitting in the brush near our local airport. Including one NOS in what was left of its original packing. (That's my 63cm Peugeot at the far end, for size perspective.) These big augers were at least 25" long.
Also, in the same dumping area, the headset bearings on Paul Bunyan's rusty, abandoned fixie.

Out lookin' for chicks
After all it is called a multi-use path. The bird turned and continued toward me and didn't fly when I rode by. Must be a composed rider on a quiet bike.

Yesterday was a kooky day- from a distance I saw what looked like a chipmunk run in front of 2 people- and they stopped. As I came up, I stopped and asked if they’d hit the chipmunk- They said there’s a weasel trying to get this dead baby bunny. Sure enough, there was a dead baby bunny in the trail, and then I see this brown weasel poking his head out of the grass- he kept moving along, coming really close- he REALLY wanted that dead baby bunny. The ladies moved the bunny off the trail- I assume the weasel got a meal. I’ve never seen a wild weasel in Waukesha. Or anywhere.
About half an hour later I was minding my own business and a young deer sticks his head out of the trees right in front of me. We made eye contact- then he said “oops! Social distancing!!!” Turned and ran back into the brush. That was 10-15 feet in front of me. And it’s an area where I first almost hit a deer on my bike!
It was a cool day.

who knew that so many people were entertained by the variety of decrepit vehicles?? (not counting folks entertained by not quite decrepit bikes)
I did think the truck was interesting, and kinda feel bad that I couldn't get a better image of it. There's a decent chance that the owner is still driving it.

Neither have I. But the Wild Weasels of Waukesha would be an excellent name for a rock band.
That's what I thought, too. But since I'm in a pulp mill town, I was also thinking maybe they were intended for sluicing processed pulp into the paper machines at one of the local plants. At any rate, they aren't being used for either of those things, now.

They rebuild this bridge every year. It is made of bamboo. Before they built a nice concrete one further down stream they made it wide enough to drive two cars on.

Speaking of deer, I saw a doe and 2 bucks last night. There’s a bike trail ( one of many, lol) by the American River, in Sacramento, where there’s a big aquatic park, for kayaks & swimming, and just as you start down the trail, there’s a fenced in area, for storage of all kinds of stuff.
I was walking my bike, and saw the doe inside the fence. I thought she was a lawn ornament, until she moved, because she was only about 4 feet tall (?). Then while we looked at each other, the 2 bucks walked around the corner, eating flowers from a tree. They were about 5 or 6 feet tall, but both had roughly a 10-point rack. They were pretty occupied with eating, so barely paid any attention to me.
Sorry, no pics, I bet that woulda spooked them. 🤔😉
