Holdsworth touring model identification (circe '79)
Hiya,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
Picked this Holdsworth bike up for a tour from Kent to Cornwall last year, with zero knowledge. Ended up falling in love with it.
Unfortunately cant post the photos just yet, but I'll try and rack up some quick comments!
Doing a lockdown full service and getting excited learning its history. Spent a lot of time on the incredible Nkilgariff Holdworth pages, but this model leaves me stumped?
Would love some help identifying is possible? Number on the forks is 027679 (so fits with circa 79 according to the Holdsworth spreadsheet).
'Unique' features are twin spoke holders, twin lamp front fork fixing and a curved C shape brake mount. Cant find another Holdsworth like it :/
(photos*dot*app*dot*goo*dot*gl/Zxf4yMAuCgJjpyhA6 if this is allowed
Any pointers much appreciated! Thanks.

Well I have a Holdsworth "Touring" bike which looks quite different to this, the one thing they share is the Prugnaut head lugs, but mine (thought to be a "shop-built frame", I'd guess yours is a Holdsworthy "factory-built) and has full wrap seat stay tops and none of those braze-on bits like spoke holders or lamp brackets. It DOES have a serial number stamped on both steerer and the BB shell, mine is (I forget and it's too dark to read now) X9226 or something but stamped in a "stacked" column on the bottom of BB shell. It has a curved brake cable bridge but not Exactly the same as yours; has Cantilever brake bosses and Campy vertical DOs. My pix are all saved on another computer. Figures!

Well no need to dig into the old computer cause there are some pix in this long thread (see #283 and #284) and that serial number is :
6
9
2
2
6
And stacked like this which marks it as a likely Reg Collard shop-built frame ("Italia Touring custom") from circa 1969
https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...h-here-12.html
you might want to add your pix to this thread with your description, too!
BTW what's up with that BB shell: is that for cable routing or some kind of cup-tightening device?

the forum has two active members with touring Holdsworthy products of this colour from this time
both came through badged as Claud Butler Majestic
https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...ves-lives.html
the frames are constructed with different lugs than the subject bike however
we had a forum thread recently on one badged as an F.W. Evans -
https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...ca-1979-a.html
can recall that the members are steve_d &francophile who are sure to be able to lend some solid information to the discussion...

Thank you for the pic assist Bill, and excited to see if francophile can shed any light on it.
Become a bit worried its maybe not a Holdswoth :/
Feel like it shares a lot with a similar date Raleigh Randonneur...

It's possibly not a Holdsworth/Holdsworthy product but doubtful somebody would bother to add a head badge and counterfeit this make, it's not a Hetchins or something! I don't recall any Raleighs from late 70's that used those Prugnat lugs and Holdsworth certainly did (both of mine have these headlugs). Holdsworthy was also making a lot of custom (bespoke) frames for individuals back then, too, which this frame most certainly COULD have been, or treated to a lot or braze-ons after market!

Here's the serial format from a Holdsworth Special.
I have thought it from 1982.

Good point about the replica, doesn't make much sense that theory...
Still not got enough posts to add photos, but the google drive link I added at the top has been updated with a pic of the bb stamp(s) + fork stamp.
Different style to Wildwoods, but also few years earlier according to the database, so maybe to be expected?
I must say I'm drawn to the idea of it being a custom, could help explain a few things...

Most curious "custom touch" is that split BB shell with what looks like 2 seat lug pinch bolts to "tighten the threads"...how come? Otherwise still don't see why it would NOT be a Holdsworthy made frame but that call is for somebody more expert than I am (merely a 2-Holdsworth owner).

So just spitballin here and no expert but I think the split tandem BB with no eccentric may be for easy service on the road without carrying the tools.
FF s/n don't match and no canti posts on the fork so.....
And just to pull something out of my you know what, maybe the BB was a Rough Stuff thing?
