It should be an interesting game, especially in the ice storm.

The Pats beat the Texans last night (yay!), even beat "the spread" despite a slightly sloppy game. The Texans defense is impressive!

Crafty beer. Alas, my favorite local craft beers are available only in pubs. But because we've turned into a craft beer paradise the local grocery stores and even a few convenience stores are carrying better bottled and canned beers.

Usually I prefer dark, strong stuff like scotch ales, stouts and porters. Nothing good has been available at the grocery store since winter so I've been trying sorta-mainstream crafty beers.

This week I tried a 12 pack variety from New Belgium. First time I'd tried Fat Tire. It's... not good. Another reviewer described it as tasting like steak sauce. Pretty close. I'm gonna use the rest as marinade for a big pork roast. Normally I'd relegate that marinade role to the likes of Milwaukee's Best, Budweiser or similar swill. Fat Tire may be New Belgium's red headed stepchild now that they've produced better beers.

But Citradelic and Voodoo Ranger are darned good. Citradelic is pretty much the perfect warm/hot weather post-ride quencher. It's what I'd wanted but never got from summer shandies. And Voodoo Ranger is just a bit darker and richer but still a good post-ride quencher.

First post in c&v after many hours of reading! I actually feel qualified to comment on this (my own preferences).

I've been into ryes lately. Bullet is great, and tin cup is a high rye whiskey that is great for the price. Both are great on their own or in an old fashioned.

I've been buying these bottles of Baltika for a few years now. It doesn't fit the theme of this thread because it isn't the colour of tarmac and one can see through it but I still like it.

Jason
Surly Brewing is a favorite of ours.

Especially the outdoor patio after rides.

In addition, our family has season tix for the Minnesota United. They play at nearby TCF stadium, home of the Golden Gophers football team.

Surly is a great place to head to after a game. Great beer and good chow.

I'm certain I'll look up Jerrod this summer.

I'm not sure if it was in this thread or the C&V Good Ride Today? thread. Anyway, someone suggested I should try Dogfish Head 120Min IPA, that's I'd forget I'd ridden at all. I picked up some the other day at my usual beverage store. The owner, knowing that I like to try new stuff, offered to swap one bottle for the DfH World Wide Stout. I had the 120Min IP a day or two ago and just finished the WWS a few minutes ago. At le3ast I think it was a few nimutes ago. Wow. Stiff stuff. really good too. Stuff stiff. Um, yeah. No pics. I rode about 30 miles on the Centurion Ironman this morning. THen helped my sweetie plant tomato plants. The beer was graet. wsow. Havinf tourble tyu[ping.

In warm weather I like lager. Jack's Abbey has a nice one in the summer, Sunny Ridge. Notch makes session beers which are about 4% alcohol. Just about right.

Water, neat.

Preferably on the colder side of room temp, definitely not ice cold.

Wait is that not what this thread was about?

(Didn't bother to read the last 18 pages to see if this jokes has been made...)

Water. Clyde wanting to lose weight. With every 5 lbs lost, I may celebrate with a Martini (2 oz Gin, ice, capful of Vermouth), every 10 pounds, a dram of Lagavullin.

Martinis need gin. You can drink Vodka and Vermouth, but to call it a Martini is to corrupt your thinking. Of course, if you you drink it, you corrupt your thinking.... Vodka (no additives except ice) was/is G. W. Bush's drink, IIRC.
