Today was a perfect 67° cloudless day in the Bay Area... We need rain bad! Expected this weekend.

I did a 12 mile round trip trail ride from Lafayette, CA to Moraga, CA located about 25 miles east of downtown SF.

The trail climbs up 400' over 5 miles on the outbound leg. It winds it way through pleasant neighborhoods and wooded areas. It's easy to hit 25 mph in the curves and dips coming back down.

Shimano Deore XT MTB running gear!

What a gorgeous bike. Awesome.

Went for a ride today along the southern coast of The Netherlands around my house. The Bottecchia needed some air. Saw the colony of pink flamingos that lands here every year. They're here because the lake is salty and quite shallow, I guess, so they can stand up while having dinner.

Today was “zombie day” for me, that is, after working a night shift, I sleep 3-4 hrs then try to readjust to normal life. I usually try to get a short ride in to get the pipes blown out. Gloomy out there with overcast skies and temps in the high 50’s. This is the last weekend of UVA spring break and usually there will be a lot of activity with parties going before the kids have to start back school, but very quiet around. Interestingly, a lot of couples out walking together; maybe since there’s no distraction of the Saturday afternoon parties. This is Beta Bridge just up the street from Jefferson’s Rotunda. Bridge that gets painted on an almost daily basis by various student groups. Most colleges seem to have one of these.

My main purpose was to put up a pic of Tommy as he hasn’t made an appearance in a while. Sporting some new built by me wheels with lightweight Panaracer race tires and some new to me Cobalto brakes.

Note to self, stop taking pics of bikes in portrait orientation

Hugh, I'm maybe 50 miles north of you. The weather was indeed weird today, cloudy, humid, felt colder than the ambient temp.
Got in 22 miles on The Pink Bianchi, makes it 120 for the week.

Agreed, I wore my 50 degree outfit, long sleeve jersey, base layer, and heavier tights, thinking I’d be overdressed but was slightly chilly at times.

Little 20-mile RT shakedown ride (my first of the year, as it's been a busy winter!) to Marine Park. I also used it to test my "new" used (1980s) Brooks Colt. I like it! Hard as a rock, but the shape seems to suit me.

Still a few miles from home, but I stopped over at St. Paul's Episcopal Church here in Visalia for a little rest and some photos during my first real ride out on the '72 Raleigh Pro "frankenbike." Fun stuff! Fast ride, for sure...

Xmas ride up to Council Crest in Portland. No wait, Spring Break ride! I had a hat on under my helmet and I could feel the wind on my scalp.

Beautiful weather today. Ideal time to practice some of that “Social Distancing” I keep hearing we need to do in the midst of the pandemic..

I rode the rail trail for a couple of hours and took some pictures.

A lot of folks hiking up to Rattlesnake Ledge this afternoon..

I passed a lot of hikers and bikers.

This was the biggest crowd I encountered today

I rode back into town and stopped for lunch at the Bakery. It seems like local restaurants in North Bend are still open and getting customers.

Weird times we are going through right now. Hoping every body stays healthy and in good spirits. Cheers

I also practiced social distancing today. Especially on the climbs. A buddy and I rode the Berkshire Brevet Series St. Pat’s 100k. A beautiful day. I rode the 753 Woodrup, was perfect.

A couple pics from a 20 miler yesterday:

As always, some great pics here!

As usual, I have none to post, and no rides to speak of lately.

First ride since arriving in Portland a few days ago. 40-ish mile loop I found on alltrails.com. A couple small wrong turns were quickly corrected. The weather was great (50s & sunny). Then I hit a powerful headwind on the Marine Drive trail which dropped me to low gear going about 9-10mph from PDX to the 205 trail. Still, it offered a nice view of Mt Hood.

Glad to be riding lugged steel on the roads in sunshine with a temp above 50*F.

The local organic farm shop cleaned up it’s act....... well, at least the sign is straighter than it was. No winter crop. Worst local flooding in May Valley in 7 decades, quote a local.

Just down the road from another good minifarm tax write-off.

and a cleaner shot of the 16 year old frame from Jon Tallerico.

Mixed Columbus frame with Columbus SuperMuscle fork, Specialized Turbo 24mm tubulars. FSA 50/34, Campy, Deda. Look pedals

One of the few advantages of the Corona troubles is that I'm home from work early.

So I took the big Snel out this evening for some final tweaks. We finally got some decent weather, and as mrs non-fixie is currently working from home as well, we hope to get away for a couple of hours tomorrow for our first ride together since New Year's Eve. A sunny 30-40k ride would be very nice for a maiden voyage on our Snels.

Okay, I think I got it right this time. Took the Grandis out for about an hour and a half under a gray melancholy sky.

Portland was a ghost town today, comparatively speaking. Plenty of parking at the Rose Garden!

Lol. Normally, she prides herself on pedaling to the point where I tell her to slow down. This time was different. The bike felt heavy, and I really felt like I was majorly out of riding shape. Turns out, she decided not to pedal this time.

Rode 32 miles in the glorious Virginia sunshine on my custom Pelizzoli today & gave some thought to the guy who built it. Sr. Pelizzoli was well into his 80's when I visited his shop for measuring in 2015. He's a tough old bird, was still doing all of the steel custom stuff, a cancer survivor. But at this point he's gotta be 90 or so, and he's in Bergamo, which was one of the first areas to be quarantined. Unfortunately, communication with the shop is bad at the best of times, now...no news at all.

So hey, best of luck to him.
