New Guy
Hey, y’all,
It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a bike related forum. I’ve been riding since as far back as I can remember, so I’d say fifty years or so. Early on the one I remember riding a lot was my dark brown three speed banana seat Columbia. The gear shifter was on the top tube. Kinda resembled “three on the floor” like a GTO or the like. What a great bike. It took a beating when I started jumping and BMX with it.
As my BMX obsession grew I got a Team Murray and a few years later my favorite bike; A PK Ripper. Rode and raced that constantly until I broke it, which conveniently coincided with getting my license. A few years later got an ‘87 Trek 1000 toad bike. Still have it in the garage with the Cateye Wireless bike computer, Look pedals and Selle San Marco Rolls saddle I upgraded to back in the late ‘80s.
I then went many years not riding much at all. Which is interesting because in ‘10 I got a sweet full suspension mountain bike and in ‘12 acquired a fantastic endurance road bike. Anyway, the last two years I’ve road quite a bit. I’ve just added a gravel/mountain bike which will now become my main bike. Except for rough, technical single track I should be able to take this bike anywhere I want to go.
That’s enough about me.
Cheers,
Scott

Like is the 4th blue button at the bottom right of each post. Now, you may not be seeing it as a brand new newcomer. Full access to the forum tools (esp being able to post pics) comes after 10 posts. (The Fomum moderators' defense against disabling spam. Pain for you but once fully here, you'll appreciate it.)
Welcome! I started riding about the same age you did, long ago. Almost entirely on pavement. Never stopped but there were stretches of less and stretches of lots.
We just had a week of ice, wind, downed trees and powerlines. Headlines. Warming now finally and I mosied to my favorite cafe this morning on my Raliegh Competition with Continental ice tires, dipping my foot often, walking some, but it was a ride!
