Hi all,

I am looking for a saddle for a tourer that has more rail for adjustment than the Brooks B17 I currently have . Any recommendations ?I already have a setback seatpost .

Velo Orange saddles, made by Geyes, have thicker leather and longer rails than my Brooks B17's. I got one on clearance for $50. So far, so good. In fact, like this saddle with thicker leather a lot.

Saddles - Components

Leather saddles mold to your shape over a few weeks. Once "broken-in" many cyclists find them far more comfortable than synthetic saddles. VO saddles are made from the finest Australian cowhide. The frames are sturdy chrome plated steel. VO saddles have a bit more fore-and-aft adjustment than many leather saddles due to longer rails.


Also, if cramped, it's easy to try a longer stem.

Another thing to keep in mind is that not all seatposts are created equal.

You can buy seatposts with either more or less setback. Just choose one with the right diameter for your frame.

It may be cheaper than buying a new seat.

Thanks , got a seatpost that seems to have slightly more setback won't know for sure until it's delivered , if it's not enough I'll go with that spa saddle

It's annoyingly hard to find a seatpost with setback in odd sizes sometimes.

Then You Buy a smaller size post and a seat post sizing Shim, to use in a Larger frame ID..

common : 25.4 & 27.2. are well provided with post shims ['wheels' & QBP]

Kalloy makes posts in 0.2mm increments, starting at 25.0mm

Yup, that is true and I can find a Kalloy Uno in the size I'm looking for (26.4 or .6, can't remember off the top of my head) that looks pretty enough, but I've been spoiled on my bikes with 27.2 seaposts and the ability to find setback seatposts with the 2 bolt clamping mechanisms. At my size on my cheap steel bikes (or 25.4 with a shim), I'm often stuck choosing 2-bolt or setback. Does anyone know of a 2-bolt with setback (and a lot of length - it's for a dropbar mtb conversion) seatpost, I should be looking for? Sorry to hijack the OP, but I agree that finding the right setback seatpost can be cheaper if you already have a saddle you know you like but just don't go back far enough.

Mentioned before .. Brompton parts .. Saddle adapter pin offers a horizontal tube, when clamped on a tubular seat post .
There is your setback ..
(They are all 22.2/7/8" on the top) Kalloy makes those too in all diameters ..

Setback is a choice of where you clamp the saddle clip under the saddle.. along that tube also 7/8" diameter ..

best saddle clip , another Brompton product, is their Pentaclip. though any will do..

frustratingly the new seatpost I ordered has the same setback as the one I have . The imagery on the sellers website was misleading and the seatpost I recieved was not the one I believed I was ordering . Can anyone recommend a seatpost with a lot of setback ?, similar to that of the V.O grand cru ?, can be 26.8 or lower as I can shim up to fit . Dont want to use an ugly looking saddle adapter . I think I'd feel sick every time I looked at the bike .
